Hacking Question Switch Card updates

Hey everyone.

I just got me a second switch I have updated for eShop and MO.
My question is if I start playing the cards that are supported by the old firmware on my other switch and download software updates for them, will they then be updated to no longer be supported by the older firmware?

You cant Update Cartridges themselves because the data is burned in and cant be changed

The updates are stored and installed on the Switch itself. The cartridge will always be the same as it was the moment you bought it.
