Homebrew switch 3.0.0: homebrew, backups and updates

hi all,
I have a Switch with Firmware 3.0.0 and a Mario Odissey cartridge (which requires a firmware upgrade to be played)
Should I upgrade and play Mario, or should I stay at 3.0.0 for a while?

Note: my unique goal is to be able to play backup games on the console..

Suuuure.

Anyhow, if you want to play them ASAP, and don't mind missing anything, stay at 3.0. An exploit may come out for it sooner than newer firmwares.

If you're patient for Homebrew, update to 3.0.1, if you're patient for Odyssey, stay on 3.0.0.

I'm not really looking for homebrews, but rather for backup games.
I was reading around but it's not clear to me if backups will be ever possible..

"Backup" games will be possible, eventually. Not yet, though.

Homebrew is the first step to "backup" games, though.

You probably gonna wait a long time before a back up loader will be released.
