? CPU won't need emulation at all, shaders in worst case need translation layer. Your whole list was made on completely wrong assumption.it’s emulation like the Xbox 360 with OG Xbox or partial emulation like the CECHE01 PS3
The likely thing is that they're referring to Nintendo Labo as well as any other games that use strange accessories, since they are physically incompatible with the new JoyCons.Leaks have told us the switch 2 will be backwards compatible and it turns out it was indeed backwards compatible, and the Nintendo website states that not all games will be backwards compatible with the Switch 2 which most likely means it’s emulation like the Xbox 360 with OG Xbox or partial emulation like the CECHE01 PS3, so here are my predictions for what games I can think of and think will and will not be compatible with the switch 2 (Note: May not be in alphabetical order, this is not an actual compatibility list nor an accurate one, all information maybe fake or lesser true) :
1-2-Switch: Playable
Asterix and Obelix XXL Romastered: Playable
Asterix and Obelix XXL 2: special effects tend to not render properly
Asterix and Obelix XXL 3: Playable, Some Graphics like the dust will not render properly, slowdown may occur usually when fighting Roman’s
Asterix and Obelix XXXL: Playable
The Angry Video Game Nerd 1 & 2 Deluxe: Playable
A Boy and His Blob: Playable
Fortnite: Unplayable, most weapons and objects will not display properly, system may hardlock during some creative maps and randomly crash

River City Girls 2: Playable, there may be slowdown during gameplay
Jeopardy!: Playable
LEGO Worlds: Playable
Mighty Switch Force! Collection: Playable
Nickelodeon All Stars Brawl: Playable
Yoshis Crafted World: Playable
Super Mario Oddyssey: Playable, may experience constant slowdown
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Playable
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!: Playable
Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition: Playable, game may stutter for a little bit when 3D graphics appear on screen
Asterix and Obelix: Slap them All!: Playable
PAW Patrol Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay: Playable
South Park: The Stick of Truth: Playable, color alteration may occur in FMV’s
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated: Playable, graphics like the shadows will not render properly

Tomb Raider’s l-lll Remastered: Playable
Shantae and the Pirates Curse: Playable
Shantae: Half Genie Hero: Playable, may experience slow down during special effects
Shantae and the Seven Sirens: Playable
Made this only for entertainment purposes, this is not an actual compatibility list, just a prediction of what I think will work and not work if they are using emulation for switch 1 games on the Switch 2, none of the information is true or might not be true in the future so do not believe anything on this compatibility list and wait for an official or true compatibility list when the system is out

Yeah, I know that nowThe likely thing is that they're referring to Nintendo Labo as well as any other games that use strange accessories, since they are physically incompatible with the new JoyCons.
As well as that, there is no IR camera anymore, so any games using it, like 1-2-Switch, will only be partly compatible.
The list of games using weird accessories or the IR camera is pretty short, and they are not exactly popular games, so most people won't care.

No, your comment was https://media.nintendo.com/switch-2/pdf-compatibility_issues_EN.pdf https://media.nintendo.com/switch-2...NZ*MTc0MzY0Nzg3NS4zLjEuMTc0MzY0ODkwMi4wLjAuMA.. I was right the whole time and all of you said it would be native, 100%? CPU won't need emulation at all, shaders in worst case need translation layer. Your whole list was made on completely wrong assumption.
And how that list is confirming what you said? xD Xbox 360 was completely emulating game (CPU and GPU), First PS3 was using PS2 hardware, CECHE is using only PS2 GPU. None of those solutions will be used. No, your comment was https://media.nintendo.com/switch-2/pdf-compatibility_issues_EN.pdf https://media.nintendo.com/switch-2...NZ*MTc0MzY0Nzg3NS4zLjEuMTc0MzY0ODkwMi4wLjAuMA.. I didn’t think of it like that actuallyAnd how that list is confirming what you said? xD Xbox 360 was completely emulating game (CPU and GPU), First PS3 was using PS2 hardware, CECHE is using only PS2 GPU. None of those solutions will be used.
Translation layer doesn't have 100% compatibility on any platform. And I am still of opinion shaders will have translating layer, but according to their dev article it can be assumed it will be done in software instead of hardware, which means whole shader must be processed before putting it to gpu. Doing this only from one device to only one another device from the same device maker allows them to skip middle process of decompilation and can go with one step straight recompilation/conversion + use those 7GB of unused RAM as shader cache. Con of this solution is if new several shaders will be loaded at once, you may be able to see stutters.
Still they never said where issues come from. They may come from using nnSDK in non-standard way that makes it impossible to fix without introducing a patch to game.
Look at the compatibility issues pdf that masagrator linked to. It's not what I was expecting to see either tbh. What's the speculation even about?
From a technical standpoint clearly all Switch games are compatible.
They will probably introduce a software block for certain games that simple cannot work with the newer hardware for certain reasons.
These include:
That being said even those games (except for LABO) could be played on a Switch 2 when connecting the old Joycons since it's officially announced that they're pairable with the Switch 2. It's up to Nintendo though how they manage their software block.
- Nintendo LABO (obviously the Switch 2 is bigger than the Switch 1 and won't fit into the papercuts, same applies to the new Joycons)
- All IR sensor games like 1-2-Switch or Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training
- Ring Fit (uses the sensor as well as relying on old Joycon size to fit into the ring
Okay wow, how dare they even call the Switch 2 "backwards compatible" at all with that long list?Look at the compatibility issues pdf that masagrator linked to. It's not what I was expecting to see either tbh.

I think there was another list, I made this post when the switch 2 was announced btw, I didn’t even know if it was emulation or not, just a silly prediction and not anything serious. I found both on the Switch 2 website, and the 360 was compatible and it had a long listOkay wow, how dare they even call the Switch 2 "backwards compatible" at all with that long list?
