Extrems released this 12 hours ago

A bug that appeared in v0.4r775 preventing Game Boy Interface presets from working has been fixed.
Some interface rendering tweaks have been done, and using Swiss as igr.dol should now work again.
Compatibility with 10-15 years old Kingston SD cards has been fixed through a libOGC patch.

@Extrems committed:

  • Trigger IGR on game crash.
  • Add __OSBootDolSimple signature found in Kururin Squash!
  • Don't setup progressive scan for BS2 NTSC Revision 1.0.
  • Use point sampling for upscaling banners.
  • Fix UI projection matrix.
  • Improve text downscaling quality.
  • Apply pixel center fix.
  • Fix crash when igr.dol overlap critical section of game executable.
  • Fix .dol+cli files.
  • Code space optimizations.

I have a suggestion, Alex.

How about replying to a Swiss Update thread each time an updates comes instead of creating a new one? It's hard to keep track of this. But thanks for the notification. Time to use another Mini-DVD-R. It has been months since I burned one.

@KleinesSinchen

Your Testing Skillls are expected.:D
Sorry for the long wait. I have burned two coasters. On one disc the dye seems to be defective from factory (holes) and the other simply didn't work ("An error has occured." or "The disc could not be read")

After being repeatedly told to stop the testing for today I decided to use a Verbatim DVD-R and this worked. Swiss starts but I can't do any furthers tests today. On the first look I don't see much difference between an older version and the latest in terms of boot time. (The new one is slightly faster, but my cube likes Verbatim more than the cheap Emtec DVDs anyway).

No need to burn a new disc. You can put the new swiss dol at the root of the sd card and name it boot.dol, swiss will autoboot it.

I'm curious to hear how the fastboot apploader affect DVD-R users.
Any specific test(s) I should do? On the first look everything runs flawless.

Swiss v0.5 r813 starts flawless and fast from DVD-R, takes configuration form SD in SD2SP2 and retail games boot as always, both from SD2SP2 and SD-Gecko (memcard port B). I've noticed no stuttering in cutscenes (Resident Evil games, pretty heavy video usage) and no crashes.

If the question is: Did the changes break anything for DVD-R users my answer from limited testing is : "NO!"

Sure. That is what I usually do. But not this time. I wanted to get specific results for booting Swiss directly form DVD-R. Soooo much has changed since my last disc.

Well, how much time does it shave off? At which point in the animation does the fade out occur? Anything past that is irrelevant.

This is what happen with an ODE:

Extrems just released a new version of the Game Boy Interface (GBi) software for the Gamecube, that mainly takes advantage of the latest GCVideo-Dvi firmware update v 3.0.

For those who updated their GCVideo devices, Extrems added four new optimized video configurations to try out. Custom-tailored presets (found in the “presets” folder from the downloaded .zip archive) have been added for both Standard and High-Fidelity editions of the GBi.

High Fidelity:

Included as gbihf-gcdv-v3.cli, gbihf-gcdv-v3.dol+cli and gbihf-gcdv-v3.gci.
These settings provide a 4× scaled image in a 960×640i60.08 output.
In the GCVideo menu under “Advanced settings”, set “Chroma Interpolation” to Off.

Standard:

Included as gbi-gcdv-v3.cli, gbi-gcdv-v3.dol+cli and gbi-gcdv-v3.gci.

  • Configuration 1: (Change the Aspect Ratio on the television to 16:9)
    --aspect=16:9
    --offset=0
    --zoom=3
    --format=hd60
    --scan-mode=interlace,clock2x,size2x
  • Configuration 2: (Change the Aspect Ratio on the television to 4:3)
    --aspect=4:3
    --offset=0
    --zoom=3
    --format=hd60
    --scan-mode=interlace,clock2x,size2x
  • Configuration 3: (In the GCVideo menu under “Other settings”, set “Enhanced DVI mode” to Off and change the Aspect Ratio on the television to 4:3)
    --aspect=4:3
    --offset=0
    --zoom=3
    --filter=prescale
    --dither=bayer2x2
    --scaler=nearest
    --format=hd60
    --scan-mode=progressive

In order to tweak the aformnetioned values, just edit the “gbi-gcdv-v3.cli” with a word editor, save your work and put everything back onto the SD card.
