Extrems released nother Update from SWISS:

https://github.com/emukidid/swiss-gc/releases/tag/v0.4r766

For this release, while I mostly focused on the Broadband Adapter, the way in-game reset work in the new read patches has changed. @emukidid worked on improving file browsing speed.

@emukidid committed:

  • Make less calls when reading banner data, standardise it with a struct
  • Fix banner description display when carriage return is present
  • Fix read/size issue when banner is at the end of the file
@Extrems committed:

  • Make use of EXILock callback for transmit.
  • Make use of __OSMaskInterrupts/__OSUnmaskInterrupts.
  • Change IGR to call OSResetSystem in idle thread.
  • Fix another cause of missed interrupts.
  • Don't trap reset button if not using IGR.
  • Find __OSUnhandledException and put it in our table.
  • Reuse __OSInitSystemCall to install a jump table.
  • Smooth things out with the Broadband Adapter.

Wow. These updates keep coming fast.

I really would like to know when I can risk burning another version to DVD-R (for convenience and instead of chainloading the latest version from SD).

Reading speed from SD-Gecko has very much improved for some time now and I hardly need the drive. Seriously: Anybody who tried SD loading in the past and was disappointed by the slow speed or skipping cutscenes: Try again! Very impressive development.

Thank you, emukidid and Extrems!

SD2SP2/SD-Gecko + XenoGC + good quality DVD-R. This is not expensive. I previously used the Windwaker exploit but the XenoGC was worth it's very small price. Turn on → GC logo → drive makes a quiet "krrz" once → Swiss showing my game collection.

Thinking about getting a GCLoader when available… but first find a cheap GC with broken drive. Somehow the thought of removing a working drive hurts.

GameCube is already there.
SD2SP is hopefully on the Way.
The Xeno GC Chips from Amazon are ok ?

https://www.amazon.de/s?k=xeno+gc&__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&ref=nb_sb_noss

(maybe I should order 2-3 pieces if one is "broken".....:()
I have a few Verbatim Mini DVD-Rs,,,,,,,somewhere

Thank you for your Tipps.:yay:

but still not perfect enough, making the new gc loader ode really worth it?
or are 99% of games fine now?
My testing is limited. From what I've seen the speed has greatly improved.
The GCLoader is a very good development and I would say: Yes it is worth upgrading the cube. The lasers are all old after all and will fail eventually. Without working drive you can't boot into Swiss – unless you get the ODE.

I got mine via Amazon Market Place a few months ago – from China of course. No idea which seller/offer. Only ordered one and luckily it works like a charm. Really should have ordered two or three. They are so cheap!

I can recommend a kit on ebay from France with sd gecko + chip + Swiss minidvd + screwdriver + tiny solder™ :)

Just this week I've ordered a kit with sd2sp2 + updated Swiss minidvd just so I can use official SD functions in Doubutsu no Mori e+ :D

Too bad I doubt someone is going to update MPlayer CE for sd2sp2 support...

I got the ode,its fantastic, and the software will improve the products value for sure.

I’m also thinking I will buy the GC Loader, it’s a lovely piece of work and he deserves our support. But I’ll be buying a second GC for it and use it as my daily driver, leaving my original GC intact.

Besides, it’ll be a great addition to the series of retro articles I’m writing. I like to include modern retrofit products/carts/modifications whenever they’re interesting enough........ And when I can afford them, it’s a bloody expensive game when you’ve 80 odd systems :D
