So I tried the latest svdt (not the test version a few posts above) and all VC titles I've tested so far work, except the GBA ones. No real surprise there, as they are probably coded weird since they were never officially released. Also, fixing this issue, if possible, requires access to an Ambassador Program 3DS, so I'm not expecting much. It'd be nice to have my first-ever playthrough of Metroid Fusion freed from my 3DS, but it's not that big of a deal, I suppose.

Whenever I try to open a game in svdt, it says "An eror has occurred. Hold down the POWER button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again." I'm running 10.1.0-27E O3DS. I'm trying to get this to work for ACNL, but it just doesnt want to work. It was working for me before so i dont know what happened.

Btw, now that autofetching works, one can use xml files in HBL to make svdt directly boot to the title you want, without needing to use the title selector.

svdt uses this xml file:
Code:
<targets selectable="true">
</targets>

If you use this xml file for example, svdt will always launch under pokemon rumble world (EUR) title:
Code:
<targets selectable="true">
    <title mediatype="1">0004000000164600</title>
</targets>
note: you can check the title id (0004000000164600) in svdt title selector.

I myself have a folder with 4-5 svdt for the games I use to make periodic backups of, so I skip all the title selecting. With auto-backup it's just run and exit to have a backup.

Whenever I try to open a game in svdt, it says "An eror has occurred. Hold down the POWER button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again." I'm running 10.1.0-27E O3DS. That error message isn't coded in svdt, so I don't know what your problem is, but I think you can't even boot svdt, so this is the wrong thread for your issue. Did you update recently and did not update your hax accordingly? If so reinstall your hax.

I've only seen this with themehax 1.0, nothing else. What entry point/exploit are you using?

I'm using homemenuhax and i also tried it with tubehax.
Only for checking: Are you using latest HBL "boot.3dsx" file?... And, do you have all correct "svdt" files (I mean: svdt.3dsx, svdt.smdh, svdt.xml and asr.dat) onto "/3ds/svdt/" path?

Another things about your game cartridge: Is it working and is it from the same region of your console?

Yes.

I have your same FW console version, but different region (U, for me). And working pretty fine for me, with 4 different Hax methods and 3 different HBLs (official and 2 customs)!.... So weird??

Edit: Problem with svdt is only trying to backup saves from ACNL cart? Or also with another cart or installed game?

I have all of those except svdt.xml. I actually made a typo in my previous post, too. I'm on us, not europe.

I have found a kind of bug/issue using svdt (latest version): First, I enter to svdt as usual (I previously created a "disable_auto_backup" file), selecting target and all. I notice that a svdt folder is created on root of SD. Then, I just exit to launcher without backup/restore anything and when I try to run another HB, a grey screen appears on bottom and console just freezes!... What could be the problem? Anyone can confirm that?

Edit: Perharps will be HBL issue, because I use custom version, IDK... I'll try with original in another moment to see what happens!

No, that happens to me too and I use the regular hbl. I just launch the extdata tool homebrew by yellows8 (the one included in the homebrew starter pack) and then exit without doing anything, and 9/10 times it won't freeze. But I do wonder what causes it.

I always though crashes where random. Hopefully ninjhax 2.5 solves them.
when i select my copy of MH4U (Physical cart) the screen glitches black and i cant see squat.

You are on original 3ds, mh4u is a n3ds extended game and that's why. Read about emergency mode.

i have it does nothing for me black screen on bottom/glitchy top one and the save isnt changed when i power cycle the 3DS, i eventually got SDM to work but when i can i perfeer SVDT over it.

You won't be able to use svdt with the full UI on o3DS and MH4U, the only thing you can do is use is in the same way as savemanager. If you have digital copy of MH4U, svdt should auto-patch the secure value, it's the only difference.
Another difference is that backups are made in separate folders with timestamp, which is better than savemanager.

Injection uses /svdt_inject folder in the root of the sdcard, and works in the same way as save manager.

Since some games don't handle gfxInitDefault() well for some reason (Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a prominent example), svdt has some emergency operations available for all games. Since the homebrew launcher doesn't care about the L/R shoulder buttons, these are ideal for binding to functions that need to be executed before the application gets to gfxInitDefault().

  • svdt automatically backs up all save data at startup into a time-stamped folder in the SD card (ex. sd:/svdt/Cubic Ninja/20151021_060942/). If this behaviour is undesirable, put a non-empty file with the name 'disable_auto_backups' (no extension) in the same directory as the svdt executable, and svdt will back up data at startup only if the left shoulder button is held down.
  • Hold down the right shoulder button while starting svdt to dump the contents of sd:/svdt_inject/ into the target save data. If no directory named svdt_inject exists in the SD root, nothing is attempted.
