Super Mario Eclipse (Sunshine mod) release trailer

Super Mario Eclipse is an extensive and perhaps the most ambitious mod for Super Mario Sunshine yet. After close to 5 years in development, v1.0 of the mod is now available via GameBanana.

The mod offers a new "open-world" gameplay style alongside 120 new Shine challenges, 3 new playable characters, gameplay mechanics and more. New animated cutscenes and a completely original OST are also part of Super Mario Eclipse.

Super Mario Eclipse--the much-anticipated revisit to Delfino--is finally here after a 4 year wait. Likely to be one of the most ambitious Mario fan projects of all time, a journey of pure wonder awaits. 120 returning shines from the game you know and love have been altered for a unique open-world play experience, with enhanced story elements that keep you engaged along the way!

- 120 brand new shines
- 3 playable characters
- New movement mechanics
- Improved game engine

So is it supposed to throw me into the normal sunshine levels at first? I'm a bit confused because it starts with the tutorial levels, before going to n64 peach castle, and then on to the normal sunshine beginning (airport, isle delfino, and bianco hills, have yet to go any further than that) albeit with compressed video for cutscenes. Is that supposed to be the way this goes?
Was just about to ask the exact same thing! I'm confused!!

Did either of them not see the posts that ask to fuck up with the dmca shit??

If it happens it happens, it's already backed up elsewhere anyway.

Downloading this before it gets DMCA'ed. I haven't read the comments yet, but I imagine several people already said this.
I said it haha. You're right, get in before the DMCA.
"Using a USA copy of sunshine that is in the unmodified standard .iso format, apply the provided patch file using the supplied auto patcher or any xdelta patcher of choice."

It's a patch. All copyrighted content will be from the disc you provide. Legal. but y'all right, since it's Nintendo, could still very well be DMCA. They don't care too much about how legal stuff is, just if they can get away with it.

I've tried doing a bit more, and it does seem to be intended. Thus far I've found two new levels
One a road next to the light house and two swimming into the sea next to the buoy in Gelato beach (which brings you to a small area where you can enter the new level).
Spoiler contains the levels I found thus far.

Awesome, thanks for the update. Gonna get stuck in to it later :grog:

once you start making professional trailers that make this appear to be a nintendo product (with the chance to not be up to standard or morons wasting nintendo ressources asking questions and other stupid things) it doesnt truly matter anymore if the file thats provided includes any copyright material.
at that point, they get you on use of their iconic brand.

but now that it is released, at least everyone has access to it forever

Had my eye on this project for a while now. So glad that Nintendo hasn’t shut it down. I never played it but always downloaded the pre releases in case it was shut down. Great effort from the team!

Can someone please tell me what is going on with the DARKNESS in this mod? I get it's called "eclipse" but it's just a stupid mechanic if you ask me. Does this happen through the whole game? can you turn the sun back on? just makes the game look dull / dark and it's really lame honestly. Hopefully someone can mod the sun back into the game with all the added mechanics and features intact later on because this ain't it.

Just tried it for the first time on Wii using Nintendont.
The game is rendering with only red colors, everything is red.
changing fps to 60 just slows the game down in the first area.

Does anybody know how to deal with the color issue?
Edit: Colors look normal again after forcing the video mode to Pal60
