A friend of mine recently did a9lh and everything went fine. Today he made a .cia of a game and downloaded Save Data Manager

https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-jks-savemanager-homebrew-cia-save-manager.413143/

then after that his 2DS wouldn't start. Blue led and black screen. He tried troubleshooting by formatting his SD and loading a backup made while following Plialect but with no avail. Still black screen.

The fuck happened? Thanks.

If he followed the guide he used Luma right? Can he chain load payloads? Like decrypt9? Does the blue LED shine for a second and turn off or is it constant?

Blue led is fixed. This is what he has on his SD.

Fixed like it stays there? Try removing the SD card. I really hope for his sake that this is just an SD problem.

With no SD blue led turns on and then off immediately.
Congratulations, you're not bricked. It does that when a9lh can't be loaded. Okay, try another SD if you can.
I don't know why your screen goes black and the system just hangs, but I do know this can be fixed.

What do I do with this other SD?

Copy over whatever SD back up you may have. OR, you can try to load decrypt9 with the other SD in by holding start (what the guide sets it to, if different use that key). The restore a sysnand backup.

I did just remember the new guide says to use hourglass9 so, whichever :p

Wow...I hope I won't get a strange sudden brick...(Installed A9LH yesterday).

For the micro SD question : no idea. I have a standard SD (16Gb) in my normal o3ds and a 64gb Micro SD in adapater in my 3ds XL...and both are working...so far...

My adapter is the same brand as my Micro SD...both Samsung...no idea if it's good or crappy though...

I do, have for half a year. I think a microSD in an adapter should be fine but some of those adapters are real crappy..

Is using a microSD with an SD adapter not recommended?
You can use it, I use it in my O3DS. But the MicroSD -> SD connection just adds another point of possible failure, opposed to just (micro)SD connection -> 3DS :P

Yeah, the micro might be fine but the adapter could be of poor quality.

The whole idea behind a9lh is that most things can be fixed, as long as you keep back ups and your boot time payloads work. The first suspect if stuff suddenly messes up is the SD.
