Following the guide and it says to update

Update your device by going to System Settings, then “Other Settings”, then going all the way to the right and using “System Update”
  • Updates while using B9S + Luma (what you have) are safe
  • The updater may display a message saying “Your system is up to date” instead of updating. This is normal if you are already up to date; continue with the next section
  • If this gives you an error, set your DNS settings to “auto”
  • If this still gives you an error, follow CTRTransfer, then try updating again
From reading it I assume I should be able to update off SD card, however the only option is to update through the internet?? There is no photo clues what I should see therefore I am lost if I am at right point and should I update off SD?

Then just did system update via internet

If you already have B9S installed, it is safe to update to the latest version.
How can I verify that is installed? What is guide asking for? I selected guide for ver 5.0 shouldn't I be able to finish by following the guide? No offence but you basically either ask me to veer off the guide or the guide skipped something?

What happens when you boot the system while holding Select?

Also, if you're still following the guide, finish the guide.

And u read wrong
I guess you might be right. Now I see the thread I read it from is from 2017!

Nothing I tried to reboot system holding..... power? I found that somewhere, yikes! Let me try, with select. What am I supposed to see?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I see menu and "Show NAND or user string in System Settings" is x-ed (check marked?)

EDIT: On the bottom it says: "Booted from SD via B9S"

That all means you have B9S and Luma3DS installed.

SO just download the update off the Internet? Is it going modify NAND on SD or the actual System NAND?
And why wouldn't they clarify it in the guide?
The guide tells you to update online and that it's safe. Read the directions and follow the guide.
