Hey guys,

Have a N3DS on 9.0.

Finally got a copy of Zelda Oot.

So I went to do the first step, which is to go to go.gateway-3ds.com with wifi on (I've kept my gateway card in), however it is stuck on 'gateway 3ds is loading.'

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

That was for the O3DS. You don't use the browser at all with the N3DS. You need a way of getting Gateway's exploit save onto the OoT card, then you load the save in-game and press A. On Gateway's site, they have the instructions you want in their 3.1.0 release news post.

You're trying to run the wrong exploit, for starters. The browser exploit won't work on the N3DS

The problem with OOT is that you'll need an O3DS to get things started (or a friend with an exploitable O3DS you can borrow) because you need to flash the exploit save game to the cartridge, which can only be done in the GW menu. Once your cartridge is setup you'll be good, but you can't get things going with a N3DS alone

CN is much better in this regard because it's the only thing you need. You will either need CN or an O3DS, I'm afraid

Got it thanks a lot!

I actually happen to have an O3DS because my brother has it.

Do we install EMUNAND onto the N3DS?

Because I was reading something about how the new update allows you to boot without the zelda cartridge after the first time you use the exploit. But the information is somewhat confusing and scattered =/.

Always use emunand. Consider it a wall of defense for your sysnand.

Yes, you can boot without Zelda once you install the mset.cia file from your region (it's included with the GW launcher, however devmenu.3ds which you will need is not, you can google it and look for a download in a youtube video, that one worked for me).
To install it, simply do the following:
- Put the devmenu.3ds on the GW cart, and the mset.cia file for your region on the 3DS SD card (optional: put bluecardfix.cia there as well, this will allow the blue card to work)
- Use the OoT exploit to load the GW menu (do not start GW mode yet)
- Pick the Install NVRAM option (it's all the way to the right)
- Now boot GW mode while holding B (holding B is not needed if you haven't installed emuNAND yet, it only makes it boot into sysNAND even when there is an emuNAND present)
- Launch DevMenu (press select to bring up the ROM browser)
- Once in DevMenu, press right on the D-pad until you get to SDMC, the mset.cia file should be listed there, press A twice to install it. (optional: install bluecardfix.cia as well, this will allow the blue card to work)
From that point on, you can just enter DS Profile in the settings to launch GW mode, but if you launch a DS or DSiWare game the exploit will be removed and you'll have to install it again. You can use the blue card to do so with the GW_INSTALLER.NDS included in the download, if you have bluecardfix.cia installed.

The O3DS will have to be on 9.2 or lower to install the OoT savegame exploit, another way is to buy a save dongle (they are cheap) and use that to install the save.

This is awesome, I am going to try it right now.

I've been doing this kind of stuff since the DS era, and it still took me hours to find all the right information. I think you might want to turn some of this stuff into a proper tutorial, because gateways isn't as clear as it should be.

By the way, it has to be the older DevMenu, I think I read the new BigBlueMenu doesn't work right?

Also, latest EMUNAND I think doesn't work with N3DS right?

You can update emuNAND to up to 9.5 using 3DNUS, and it also seems that some people have been able to play ds games without reinstalling the exploit.
