how can I change my bat type from strict to open?
What is nat type and what is strict? I know in my playstation games Specifically Street fighter 3 3rd strike online edition, i get a yellow nat type, and it means not as good as green, but not as bad as red according to the guide. But my Network test in settings on my playstation says Nat 2.

I dunno what it means but i think it requires some open port, port forwarding or DMZ enabled on the router for the specific Ip adress your playstation used to connect to the router. For sure i think you need manual configure your connetion to router if using a console, instead of automatic for static ip adresses and other such things.

If you have no idea what the OP is asking, why the fuck reply asking him more questions?
Jesus people are stupid.

I'd answer but Tom already did. It's kind of a pain in the ass but it's worth it. So many nightmares of strict nat on the xbox 360. Being able to connect to some friends but not others and if certain people were in the party you'd disconnect...fun times.

Is the ports also different for playstation systems?

They should be different, not to certain about it.

Spam posting...

Me router has got UPNP enabled, always got an open NAT type.
I'd try to enable UPNP first on the router, connect your One with an ethernet cable if possible.

Some yes. These are the ports that should be open for the PS4:
TCP: 80, 443, 1935, 3478-3480.
UDP: 3478-3479.

Yeah, but not all routers are created equally unfortunately. The router I used at my parents house supported UPNP and was enabled and everything and I'd always get a strict NAT until I opened the ports manually, yet here at my house UPNP works as intended and I don't have to do anything. Just one of those things that just works for some and doesn't for others.

Besides, UPNP is usually enabled by default, so unless the OP turned it off for whatever reason it wouldn't be an issue.

I did what you said, but when i look at the connection status on my ps4 is says Nat 2 still, is it supposed to say 2 or 1?
NAT type 2 is moderate, which means you're already forwarding the correct ports. 1 means completely open, 3 means strict (which will cause issues).

Oh, okay. My system always says 2, i figured it was worst than one somehow. I wasn't sure cause it didn't make much sense.

According to playstation blog, nat 2 is cause i'm using wifi i think, or cause of specifc router security systems, and that ports to open are game specific in most cases.

  • NAT Type 1 (Open) – You are either NOT behind a router/firewall OR you have already DMZ enabled. You shouldn’t run into any issues whilst gaming, but this may cause security issues.
  • NAT Type 2 (Moderate) –Your PS3/PS4 is connected properly and you shouldn’t run into any issues.
  • NAT Type 3 (Strict) – You may be able to connect to the PSN and perform downloads/updates other functions may not work as intended.
