Hacking strage pwoer button design!

hi,
do u guys have any idea why they changed the power button to this? i mean the current design of DSL.
i think the design of GBA SP was good enough. the only thing that comes into my mind is that it protects from sudden power off.
share ur thoughts/spams!

Probably because it's extremely difficult to accidentally turn off, and the button will not wear down like the SP one did.

i dont mind the placement and function of the power button. infact, i like it better than the gameboy advances.

I've accidentally turned off my DSL more times than I ever did the original DS.
It only happens when I'm playing Band Brothers, and have to switch to play a minor note (which involves holding one of the shoulder buttons) - sometimes I'll catch the power switch as I quickly change my hand's position.

Uh... so in answer to the question... no, I don't have any idea why they changed it. Probably a design decision.

I don't think it makes much difference. Unless you happen to brush something hard up against the Lite, it won't turn off. But if I were to choose one, I'd like the old design of the SP.

I hated the power button on the GBA SP, and having that new smoother design on the DSL is a great relief. Quality seems much better, easier to use, and makes smoother to powercycle the DS when you want to switch game with a cart.

who found that the DSlite power button some times doesn't respond, 'cause the button doesn't get pushed fully. I had that happen often.

The DS lite has a sliding power button, why would you push it?

I like the sliding design but the NDS one seens really filmsy

so i guess im 50/50 on it

i dunno i like being able to push a button on the phat but i turned it off acedentily a few times from the start. then after i got my lite i found that akward. i guess it just depends on what your used to.

In my opinion, the power button is actually quite well designed, although I think the PSP design is much better, as you have to hold it up for about 2 seconds to get it to power down. I also reckon they should have included the sleep function on the switch... quick flick up for standby, hold for off... that way you'd NEVER accidentally turn it off off...

The power button on the Lite is actually electronic, like the NDS and the PSP, not mechanic like the GBA, GBM and GBAsp.

I like electronic things.
