So, i've been trying to install my first game, Persona 5. I have a usb with nothing other than the package file, and when I boot the PS3 it tells me I have 21 GB free. Enough for a 16 GB game, right? However, here's what happens when I try to install it:
No package files are found, so I boot multiman, and have it read NTFS. I select the pkg file in multiman,

And then I get this screen asking me if i want to exit to XMB and install from the pkg menu.

And it does what it says. Returns to XMB, but two things; I don't even have a GB of data open now, and my USB shows two identical packages on my usb.

Why are there two? In the multiman file explorer usb, it says two entries, but there's only one file? Why does my storage go down when i've confirmed it's on my usb, no pkg on the hdd? The space goes back to 21GB when i restart the ps3 or multiman, but then the usb isn't being read. Help please? Sorry, I tried to provide images but the site says its spam or my account is too new. Could try again if itd help.

Hi Waloogy, I will start by saying that my external PS3 storage is a FAT32 drive, which works fine but may require an extra program/step if any individual file size is over 4GB. It's been almost a year since I installed anything on my PS3, so use your own discretion/re-check anything I say. From my recollections, I always installed PKG files using the "normal' PS3 menu, and I believe that any updates/DLC installs that it maybe critical to install them in the order that they were released (certainly for updates). I will say one thing if you do use FAT32 - NEVER LET WINDOWS SCAN AND FIX YOUR DRIVE!!! Good luck :yayps3:

Alright! I figured out the issue.
It's just that it was copying to my HDD and taking up space, for some reason I didn't understand that. Irisman allows you to install games without copying it to the HDD! Use Irisman if you're having the same issue.
