Homebrew Stay on 3.0.0?

Is there a big advantage to keeping a unit on 3.0.0 anymore?
I have 2 switches, one untouched besides some zelda action from back in the day on 3.0.0 and another which I use offline with rcm fusee atmosphere on the latest versions.
If not, I want to update it and take it online as I have an eshop card from the holidays.
If there is I guess I'll just buy a mariko unit or something (then I will have 3 switches... and this cake)

Actually, I don't really care about that game, I wanna get one of those SNES controllers and have the ability to play online only things (eg Overwatch)
