Quite right. Sony did it *ALL WRONG*, because they did not use a RANDOM salt when they used their keys to generate title signatures.

The very basic version:

You use the secret key, and a large random prime number that you use only one time, to generate a signature. The resulting signature cannot be reversed to derive the secret key, because of the random salt.

Sony, in their "INFINITE WISDOM", used the same large prime number every single time. Because they are idiots. That is how the secret key was derived. (Sufficient sample signatures existed with that salt, that the salt could be isolated, and the secret key derived.)

Nintendo is very much not stupid like Sony. They will salt their signatures properly. That means the only way you will get the secret key is to physically invade Nintendo HQ and steal it.

And thus a new form of piracy was released. Raiding Nintendo HQ.

*snip*

Not going to happen on Switch, we already have the final formats.

.XCI = will be the main format for a game cartridge backup loader like TX's
.NSP = will be the main installer format for tools like FBI/DevMenu
both formats are PFS0 container and with signature checks patched, it will be easy to convert any game to one of these.

Also, using XCI will be easier then CIA on 3DS, because you will only need to copy them to the SD Card, no need to install! (I just hope Atmosphere will make that happen, else TX....)
Care to share how you know? I've been reading around and haven't heard .NSP.

Hopefully we can keep this thread on track? I think my original question is a valid one.
EDIT.....I see a mod has dropped in to sweep up the runaway train, thank you.

Think the xci files will remain defacto as one of the file types and if you re-download all the early releases you will find they have been redone or properd since the first release regarding those earlier titles.

nobody knows but in another thread it was reported that garyOPA has been burning midnight oil testing
dumps with TX FW for compatibility and that he said over 200 titles
more than BBB has dumped so they are going to be able to run something other than BBB dumps , we know that for sure
eshop tites too

I don't know if with the current suggested mode/mehtod for eshop hack is the way to go as they will see a bitched out key in use over and over . As pointed out earlier by another redditer

Every form of revolution always happens from the inside. No need to break into anything as it will inevitably be leaked.

The backups that are currently floating around from Bigbluebox.....is there a reason NOT to start "collecting" them? Are they full game rips that would be ready to play once a full CFW comes out (xecuter, etc..), as in are they the correct format, etc..
if you want to but keep in mind that there may be an easier method soon
