All the program does is skip over the update sector of the disk. It cannot allow a disk that REQUIRES an update to play to work. Although most of the time a disk wants you to update it is not a requirement for the game to function properly, but until we see a scenario like the one above.... we will not know for sure.

The only thing games could require to run is a newer ios version.
These would be included in the update partition, as a wad file.
You can extract those, install them and the game will run.

lol starfall wont install for me. I'm on 3.2U (Downgraded from 3.3U using AnyRegion Changer 3.2 Installer thing). I load up starfall and it tells me to hit Bx2 (at least I think i'm on a incredibly small TV). Am I hitting the wrong buttons or something cause it won't do anything unless I hit home which returns me to HBC.

if you could read the disclaimer, it says to press 1 instead of 2.

ghostsonic is right. you can do this without fear, as it is number 2 that executes the install. button mash 'b' and '1' until the options appear, i found 3 or 4 times the charm.

i have also found that the 'wii region free' and 'skip update on disc' options both cause games, that have had freeloader injected into the iso before burning, to lock up. these could still be loaded via gecko os, as long as you insert the disc after starting gecko os.

most games i tried with the 'wii region free' turn on worked, but games like 'wii music' and 'jillian michaels fitness ultimatum 2009' still needed gecko os to run

i also noticed that after i turned region free and update skipping off, some foreign games that needed gecko os to run before, began running without gecko os, like guitar hero world tour, and tenchu 4.

a fine bit of software tho, removes the annoying health warning and background music, also removes the need to freethewads with region free channels

you would need a cIOS installed and AnyRegion Changer to do that

i have wiigators custom ios installed..what would anyregion changer do? i dont want to play ntsc games on pal wii ir anything..i just want to install starfall which i read requires 3.2u but i have 3.1e installed..i have done the 3.3u safe update which basicaly patches the ios but doesnt change the firmware..

basicaly all i want is of the kids decide to play a backup that needed updating etc or did someting from the homebrew channel is to the ability to unbrick or alternatively what can i isnatll to keep the wii safe from updates..

You can also use the Waninkoko's Custom IOS Downgrader, wich let you choose wich firmware do you want to install

What I don't get it is if this can save me from a semibrick, and if I need a modchip in order to repair my Wii, not that it is broken right now, but it could happen

W0wers... So this Starfall is basically like a modchip firmware cept we're able to install it and run it and it lets you rm that stupid tacky white screen @ power & the bgm.... As well auto launch a backup game by just holdin down Y? Damn.... That's sweet... Tho I've got 3.3u on my Wii... However I see some negative reports bout downgrading and how it acts once it's installed on a downgraded unit... Is there a poll or some kind of data I can read more on the results / after effects of the performance of Starfall after it's been installed on a pure 3.2u wii as well a downgraded 3.3u to 3.2u Unit? I may just take a shot and try it cuz dang region free sounds good when it comes to my massive collection of WADs... Just want to see how others have done w/ it on downgraded units...

Thanks for your reply!

Does the "region free channels" works for VC games?
yep, because they are channels.
No, not entirely. Some VC games will work, but NES/SNES games, for example, will NOT work between PALNTSC.

right, only they're still being accessed as "region free" (If I'm not mistaken), they just won't load because of video differences, etc.
but I can confirm that N64 and TG16 games will load region free.
0c (looks in direction of loesjoel) has released quite a few very nice conversions of ones that couldn't be truly "freed"

the problem with channels is that they read the region(videmode) not from a ram address but from the settings.txt.
Therfore don't expect any StarFall hack for that.
