i think that anyone would agree the ds is almost a perfect match for rts
I guess I'll be the only one to agree with you on what you figured everyone would agree on. The DS definitely seems to be the best option for a RTS outside of a computer that we've ever had. The touch screen is even better than a mouse and I really don't think it would be that hard to design it around the small screen. In fact I've come up with a bunch of ideas just while writing this message.

There are so many things wrong with that post.

Japan is full of gay RPG fan-boys so that’s what the manufactures make.
Do you have any idea how many Japanese WC3 and Starcraft players there are? Yes, there are alot of RPG-fanboy type people, but if you haven't noticed, there are quite a few here. They just aren't so flagrant about it.

Also, its up to the developer to actually create the game, not the manufacturer.

In order to have a good RTS a European or American company will have to make it.
Also incorrect. You know why there are so many good RTS games made by American companies? Because almost all the good RTS games are for PC, and there just isn't a very big PC gaming market in Japan.

If a good develogper worked on a RTS for the DS it would Rock!
As its been mentioned several times, without substantial evidence backing up that claim, you might as well just not make it.

Look how long the DS has been out & were just now seeing decent FPS like BIA & the soon COD.
MPH anyone?

doesnt all this come down to the graphical capabilities of the ds in addition to its lack of an analog stick?

if we had that then we coulda simply ported n64 classics like super smash bros a longg time ago =P

i disagree, they should just finish starcraft2

waited for that game for too long. and i don't think that any console is good for rts really.

I liked Heroes of Mana until it got REALLY repetitive, and the gameplay was way too simple.

You can turn up flow of time to speed up your units to a pretty much an RTS normal rate of movement.

AI Movement and grid-based movement were what really flawed the actual engine the most.

I am stuck on Mission 18 trying to get S rank. So far I have S Rank in all missions so far. This game is a piss off because the AI is fucking retarded, and the grid based movement is horrible! Your troops will literally walk ALL the way around the battlefield, setting off boss battles in an attempt to move to a location 2 feet to their left!

It was a nice attempt though.

y know i still dont understand why they put grid based movement in the heroes of man RTS game

why not let it be free roam with no squares.. The game would have been a LOT better cuz they wouldnt run in the opposite direction just to go around a rock and spend like 30sec longer just to get to the point i asked them to go to... heh

Other then Catscams developer / manufacturer twist I agree 100% with him. And developer / manufacturer are more or less the same thing only one is for software & one is for hardware. It’s developer distributor you must be thinking of.

No do you? Give me a number. I bet it’s nowhere near Koreas. So buy that theory Korea should be developing the best RTS games?

What the hell are you talking about? First you say there ARE many people playing WC3 and Starcraft on their PC in Japan, then you say there AREN’T many PC players in Japan.

Everyone knows Japan sucks at RTS games, name one good one that comes from there. This is not a knock on Japan it’s just the truth. There are many great RTS games for PC, consoles, PDA’s even a nice one for phones & not one is made in Japan. Japan makes cartoony RPG’s & family friendly games +.

I don’t get it why would you respond to a post when everything you responded with is questionable to say the least?

I agree. Even if the screens are small, good developers could overcome that obstacle.
EDIT: To the people that didn't think Heroes of Mana was good - I

Except the manufacturer is usually just mass-producing identical or similiar hardware, while developers actually create new software.

First of all, how many Korean players there are isn't relative at all to what I said.

Second, I looked for a number and couldn't find one. If someone would kindly post some charts or stats, I would be appreciative.

So buy that theory Korea should be developing the best RTS games?
By that theory, it would be in the interest of the companies that they did start working on better RTS games. That doesn't mean the necessarily are.

What the hell are you talking about? First you say there ARE many people playing WC3 and Starcraft on their PC in Japan, then you say there AREN’T many PC players in Japan.
Let me clarify for you. While its true that the PC gaming market is much smaller in Japan when compared to a country like the US, there are still a ton of Japanese SC/WC3 players because a huge majority of that small market play those two games.

Everyone knows Japan sucks at RTS games, name one good one that comes from there. This is not a knock on Japan it’s just the truth. There are many great RTS games for PC, consoles, PDA’s even a nice one for phones & not one is made in Japan.
I never said there were good RTS games. If you were paying attention, I was actually explaining why there aren't any.

I don’t get it why would you respond to a post when everything you responded with is questionable to say the least?Â

dont get why people want ports of games where they wouldnt be nearly as good as the system theyre already on. we need original games people, not ports of games that were already perfected where theyre at

I don't know if I read sarcasm but, aside the fact that that a RTS game doesn't need an analogue stick(as it has been pointed out), didn't we already have a port of N64 super mario a long time ago? And yet, there is no analog stick.

RTS in my opinion, will not work, it is simply too much hassle to control a bunch of units on a tiny screen, not to mention, a bunch of units = more power needed = lags on DS.

RTS games is the shit! i've been crying for a good RTS game since I heard that Age of Empires was comming out (WITHOUT EVEN BEING A RTS GAME)
