The generic answer is that "only Nintendo truly knows." I can't even guess on the probability because Star Fox Zero underperformed, but the franchise was dormant during the Switch gen, which means a new game would get a ton of hype.

Star Fox seems to have peaked at Star Fox 64, with later games from Rare, Namco, and Platinum Games getting mixed receptions. With that in mind, an in-house Star Fox may be what the franchise needs, but the likelihood of that is low.

There are other aspects to consider, like the marketability of a $60 on-rails shooter in today's landscape. No wonder a Star Fox sequel is so simple, yet so complicated.

will a star fox games release
See the StarFox IP is one of those that is just hard to make games for. The style and structure of the games is quite different from modern games and I'm not sure how well it would be viewed nowadays. And well... they also refuse to stop telling the story of 64 on repeat every game.

Yes there's gonna be Star Fox on their official SNES emulator (40$ per month), and Star Fox 64 (60$/month for the N64 emulator)

Seriously, what is up with that? How hard is it to add a new villain or pick a storyline that still has on-rails shooting, like searching for a cure on a distant planet? All Range Mode and ship transformations already set the stage for varied gameplay that doesn't involve leaving the ship.

Even when I think of the varied segments of Zero, I see a fun game in there, but the forced gamepad mechanics were unnecesarily restrictive. Nintendo was way too fierce, when requiring that control setup.

EDIT: I got another one. Fox is on a distant planet (Not Corneria) and has to assemble Star Fox one-by-one. So, the first level is not "fly through an invaded Corneria."

Also, stop making Peppy old. He is Peppy, he is eternal. You wouldn't age Peach a few decades and leave Mario as-is, would you? Poor Peppy.

I mean I hate streaming services and really any subscription stuff but I gotta admit NSO is insanely cheap. Especially going down that family plan where you can get the base plan for less than $5 a year if you manage to get 8 friends together.

emulators get u those for free

I don't care for piracy I'm afraid. At least not anymore in most cases. Also you need to take into account that to the average user the most important thing is simplicity. The easier something is to use the better.
nah piracy is pretty simple. modded + paid games is hard. that means u have to get digital for most stuff.

See I used to not care in the slightest but nowadays my stance is rather simple. If they are going to provide me a way to buy something from them I will. Though this ideology mostly developed after becoming a developer myself.

The real question is: Where is Star Fox for Wii? That would've been damn near perfect with the IR camera. If I could only have a single timeline change...

See that IP seems to just need a bit of an overhaul. It very much has that arcade style gameplay that isn't really well view anymore. Though they'd also actually have to write a new story instead of retelling 64 for the 10th time.

maybe star fox will never come back.
not much people even like it anyways ik that will get some people made lol
^_^
