That's the checksum, the software is just reading the programmed image back and verify if it's programmed correctly. Has nothing to do with the address.

If you inserted the usb cable in reverse before and fried the usb port, flashing using st link won't bring usb function back as it's hardware damage.

Just install the chip and check if it boots to hekate. If not then the GD32 mcu chip is probably dead, you need to replace it. It's not uncommon to receive a modchip with defective mcu.

I'm slightly confused. To be clear you...

1. Got a hwfly modchip for your v2
2. Tried updating the chips firmware to 0.7.1 (before or after trying the chip installed?)
3. Lost connection during the usb update and borked the chip.
4. Used a stlink instead to again flash 0.7.1 to the chip.
5. Finally tried the chip back in the switch and it just boots straight to OFW.

If this is correct, are any led patterns showing on the chip? Are you able to use the usb and putty to get a serial connection?
