Hacking SPM makes my wii brick (Jap)

Hi.
My friend has NTSC-J Wii.
He did'nt update his wii ever.
Finally He play SPM at yesterday and his wii change brick
so, we found SPM update make wii to brick at PAL, NTSC-J

Is there any solution?
My friend are crying with grasping his four remote controller.
Is there Any Idea to make brick to wii ?

please help me & my friend.
 
people really need to start reading on what they are actually downloading.

Weird, last update on my Japanese Wii before trying out SPM AFAIK was 2.0J and it ran fine (did an update bla-bla message but didn't brick anything). Still running now on 2.2J. I guess the default firmware is no go.
 
You should have latest firmware (in my case 2.1E or never) before applying spm patch, then it shouldnt brick. i'm not sure how this works on jpn wii.
 
My NTSC-J Wii console is also already at 2.0J before I ran SPM NTSC-U. When I clicked on the Disc Channel, it prompted me to update, but a quick update later, I checked that it was still at 2.0J and then SPM disc can be detected and played from the Disc Channel.

I dunno why there are so many people not bothered to update their Wii consoles...
