The official amiibo website lists the fresh Splatoon 2 figures as compatible with the 1st game. I would like to double check - do the new amiibos unlock the same side missions in the game as previous generation Squids, Boys and Girls did? Does the in game character appear as the old design then?
I got my Splatoon 1 amiibo stolen so I am considering buying the new 3 if it can help me get the best of both games. (I know Splatoon 1 amiibos give different rewards in the sequel but I'm more after extra missions then unlocking skins).
