So switch 2 physical games are just blank cartridges that will enable an online download. That will force you keep the system on latest firmware inorder to play current games. Just for that, the Switch 2 has be hacked! Hate this overpriced digital only anti consumer bullshit!
This is for game-key cards. There are also full game cards with the data accessed from them while playing (although there's a trend of charging $10 more vs digital. Seems like these cards might not be that cheap.)

I think anyone have hacked Switch systems with custom firmware (CFW, etc) and maybe can dump Nintendo Switch 2 game only. Hacked Nintendo Switch system will not play Nintendo Switch 2 game card. Just my guess.

Scene groups will always do it for them.

Nintendo Switch 2 need microSD Express Card which need to work. Normal microSD Card will not working on Nintendo Switch 2.

Can't wait when something big surprise when it's happen leaked on internet anytime in near future. ;) :yay:

I wonder how many people will buy one and keep it boxed on v1.0 only to be opened when it's exploitable. I know at least one person that will do that...

i will be3 one of them.

i will actually disagree though with people, and say i think an exploit might be found for a console, but i remember when nintendo was investigating denuvo, that could be a problem.

Your right but still not a lot clarity on subject. I was reading that even some games that are 12gb in size and could easily fit on cartridge are still being sold as digital only downloads. Just need to double check the retail box and what the label says...

I'm saying the game card slot is only there for backward compatibility. Games were already mostly digital once you installed and updated them. This has been true of PC and the other consoles as well for a while. I started buying physical games for the Switch but ended up selling some of them and getting the digital versions because I didn't want to cart swap all the time.

I believe that anything in this world would be done if/when there's enough incentive to do so.
Not many cares about console emulation since PS3 generation because the vast majority of their games are multi-platform (why hack the console when you can play on PC?)
Denuvo games don't get cracked because the vast majority of them remove denuvo eventually (why hack now when you can just be patient & wait?)
Switch is the ONLY true portable console since PSP and has tons of highly demanded exclusives, so there were tons of demand and incentive for cracking. Switch 2 is the same.

Nintendo, as the producer, of course has to do everything in that power to kill off that incentive (DMCA, lawfare, paying off or even recruiting hackers etc)

Who's gonna win? who knows.

The amount of online checks, virtual game cards and game key cards makes me highly suspicious about how Nintendo is going to enforce DRM on the new system, going all digital is their goal, maybe chasing some of the ways denuvo protection works.

If i had to bet for a exploit vector, it would the new MicroSD express port. It has been exploited before (and not very long ago), so it may be exploited again in the future.

What about Steamdeck, Asus Rog Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, etc? They can play everything the Switch can and more.

Question, will the MicroSD EX cards support up to 1TB? or is 256GB the biggest the switch 2 will be able to use?

Also, with everyone in Nintendo treehouse on youtube and twitch right now complaining about the price, this system NEEDS to get hacked! So bad!

Highest available on the market right now is the Lexar 1TB, which cost around 200 USD, which is out of stock at the moment. As other have mentioned highest capacity is 2TB.

According to this, 2TB will be max.
Interesting, given that 2TB is a FAT32 limit I wonder if they're doing away with exFAT. Also interesting that they require internet access the first time a card is used. Likely pairing it to the system/encrypting it in some fashion.

I honestly wonder if the Switch 2 requires an always-online connection to function.

Like with game sharing; you're allowed to keep a game for... Hmm... Was it two weeks? Either way, how's the system going to know that? If it relies on the system's own time-telling, you can just keep the Switch 2 offline and mess with the time and date settings.
If I can think of that, Nintendo would certainly have too, so the other option is for the games to only work if there is a connection to the Internet and it constantly verifies itself with the Nintendo servers.

Does anyone think that it might be possible to replace the SD card slot on the Switch 2 with a m.2 2230 nvme slot instead? They both use PCI-E for communication after all, would it be relatively simple to do so?
