You heard it right, Hollywood is going to make a movie on the popular space invaders franchise. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (producer of transformers) and Gigi Pritzker (odd lot entertainment) have optioned the rights for the movie. Details on the movie's plot or relation to the game is yet unknown. On the one hand the game is so simplistic that the story can be bent in any way possible, on the other hand, the game is so thin on actual plot, that it would be trying to give a good simple game, too much plot. .....

I can already tell it's gonna be crap.

And, how in the world can you make a movie out of a game that doesn't even have a story at all?

You make one, its a clean slate so why not? there is nothing to ruin!
You're making a movie out of a game that really has little to no plot at all, there's plenty to ruin. Like the article said it can have a good plot or too much plot.

Though, I'm gonna say it's gonna have a bad plot.

The only good movie I can see coming out of space invaders is a documentary of the game's massive success and impact on the gaming world. However, that would be sorta hard to extend long enough to fill an entire movie and would most likely only retain the interests of gaming history enthusiasts throughout. Not to mention it's probably been done already on G4 Icons or something.

It's going to be the skit from Futurama, blown into a full-blown film.

and it will be glorious

I can already picture myself Shia LeBouf and some hot chick fighting in a spaceship defending some super-special stuff from invaders.

So, it'll be a generic "Earth is invaded (c wut I did thur?) by aliens, and the army/random ass guy with hot chick will come and save us all."

Great, it's either Battlefield LA or Transformers all over again.

EDIT: Forgot a quotation mark.

They did this years ago but it was named Independence Day.

This should be better than that piece of crap.

I'm sure I heard about this project at least 3 years ago... I could be wrong though.
