I could ask the same thing, is there a reason to use anything higher? lol.
That's just how i've always done it, use the lowest common denominator so to speak. once it breaks use the newest.

Honestly? Idk. The major and minor version number didn't change from 9.6 to 10.2, but they did make some changes because the revision changed. 9.6 was 2.50-1, 10.0 updated it to 2.50-7 and the latest revision (10.3's) is 2.50-9. No idea what the revisions actually change or if using a lower one will break something. Won't know for sure until we get a retail game with 10.0, since that would be the first time a game might pitch a fit about the lower revision.

edit:

If someone with a EUR system wouldn't mind making a clean cia (no fw spoof) of Story of Seasons or Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros. and test it, that would be helpful. Both games shipped with 10.1, so if they boot and play with no problems then we SHOULD be fine, at least until the kernel is updated to 2.51.

Obviously they would need to use the EUR version of Story of Seasons as well.

I'm trying to set this up but it keeps locking up on me. I have tried various builds supplied in this thread with the same result. Here is my setup.

CTRBootManager
Gateway EmuNand 10.3
SysNand 9.2

I did at least verify that my Gateway card gets to the 10.3 emunand just fine. It is just that when I try using ReiNand it locks up. For the versions with the splash screen it at least shows that and then stops. Pressing Start does nothing. The ones that autoboot and skip the splash I get a lockup before the menu can disappear.

Hmm, how are you launching reinand? .3dsx or are you launching the dat file directly?

This may be a stupid question, but did you download the firmware.bin file and place it in sd:\rei\ ?

Did you point CTRBootManager to ReiNand.dat . Did you add offset fo ReiNAND.DAT to CTRBootManager boot.cfg? Make sure you get the right firmware.bin

Dat file directly and yes I did do that. In most zips it had a file there that basically said to place the firmware.bin in that spot.

Yes. I got the firmware.bin from the github that was posted 2 days ago. The offset I used was 0x12000.

Hmm, not sure what's going on then.

Does your sd card contain the following files, in the following folder structure?

Code:
|── rei/
| |── emunand/
| | |── emunand.bin
| |── thread/
| |── arm9.bin
| |── firmware.bin
| |── splash.bin
|── reiNand.dat

If you would be willing to test for me that would be awesome! I usually don't mind being a guinea pig for stuff but I'd rather not lose my streetpass mii plaza progress, :-P Thanks!
Well just tested it out. The transfer process started well, and I chose "transfer with PC" option. However, when the transfer process finished and I rebooted back to emunand, it threw me a 028-3220 error when connecting to the internet. Tried with ReiNand, Cakes and GW, all ended in the same error. I'm not sure whether I did something wrong or it's a general problem every CFW have. BTW, I'm transferring from o3ds rxTools to n3ds ReiNand, emunand to emunand.

NEVERMIND!!! Realised i needed to turn off my access point and abort the system transfer (after it has confirmed that the old 3DS details are now on the n3DS) which reboots into emuNAND .

After that it's a matter of turning on the access point (and wifi) and going to eShop and restoring my purchases.

I got help from this site: https://gbatemp.net/threads/system-t...munand.384343/

From a thread about emunand to emunand transfer on maxconsole

Basically when it reboots back into emunand and gives the error, kill your access point (turn off the router) and reboot back into emunand again. It will say that there is no access point and you can then "abort" the transfer. At this time the important info is already transferred (like NNID, console ID and keyY) so you can copy the files from your old systems SD card to your new one's, and then go into the eShop and tell it to restore your purchases/downloads data.

I'll test SoS once xorpads finish

If you are using Riku's converter, make sure the "FW Spoof" box is unchecked. Also, if you are using a downloaded .3ds rom, make sure its the EUR version. Title ID should be "000400000015FC00" and Product Code should be "CTR-BTSP", they can be checked with 3dsExplorer.

Problem fixed. I guess it only arises when transferring to emunand. Actually all digital titles won't show up until you access the eshop again.
