I've got a weird issue. I attempted to use the online spoofer, which appeared to work the first time.
It installed the YouTube app. This was of course ran directly from the emuNand.
Then it installed it to the sysNand somehow. I didn't really care at first cause I am not using the sysNand at all.

But now I have an issue and I hope I have not ruined my sysNand completely.
When you power down the console and power it back up, whatever game that is in the cart slot is not recognized. Like its not detecting the card.
At first, it only did this for a few seconds on boot up then the cart would finally display in the menu. Over the last few weeks it became longer. Now, it will not detect the cart at all until I eject it and reinsert it. I have done nothing in sysNand at all other than launch the CN game from the cart.

So here is my question. Is there a chance that the console will brick if I do a Factory Reset?
And what about emuNand? Do I backup the sd card, start the Factory Reset (remove the sd card just before), and start over? And can I then copy the card backup back to the card and emuNand is right where it left off?

I would like to do a complete Nand backup with the hardmod. But I am afraid that if I back up the system with the issues it has right now that my backup will be bad. No bad, but not a fresh backup of a reset console.
Can anyone advise. I have no idea if the double spoofer YouTube install was caused by Rei or not. I was in ReiNand when I did that, so I do not see how it was installed to the sysNand.
BTW: My Nands ARE unlinked
I don't know what caused it for me, but I had the EXACT same issue... same symptoms exactly. delayed cart recognition, then finally nothing until re-inserting the cart. I was using ntr, pasta, ninjhax, and several other things including reinand (reinand for actual game playing, and the rest i was testing and experimenting with), and was also not sure what caused the issue for me. i did a system format (had unlinked emunand already, and just removed the sd to be safe) and everything ended up working fine.. not saying you should do that, but it worked for me.. I believe this was on my US handheld.. i have EU and JP systems too.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Hah, welcome to the quirkiness of the 3DS. Some things are just unexplainable. Like how only europeans have problems with reinand in general.

the weird thing is that out of my US, JP and EU N3DS consoles, the one I first put ReiNAND on was the EU model (9.0.0-20E) back on an earlier reinand release, and i have never had any real issues, as far as I can remember. I'm on the latest reinand, i think, now.. i guess the 3ds is truly quirky. :)

Thanks for chiming in! Glad to know I was not the only one.
And you only used Title Manager from within Rei to install it also? Still trying to wrap my head around how it managed to install to sysNand.
Thought that running in emuNand is basically sandboxed from sys? When installing packages and what not.

For some reason, I've been unable to get FBI to work within reiNAND. I've made a post about the error in the FBI thread the other day and I haven't gotten any help with the issue.

Just use Devmenu or BigBlueMenu instead. :P
FBI is great for getting setup, beyond that i'd rely on another Title Manager though.

I'm trying to use FBI to install BBM but FBI just isn't working and I have no other alternatives. That's what's driving me up the wall. I've even tried other CFW but they're not really working for me. I just have no idea what I'm doing wrong and no one seems to want to/is able to help me.

If you don't have a flashcart to install the title manager, you need to have one on your Sysnand before you create your emunand. That way it transfer over.
If you're trying to launch Ninjhax from emunand & install that way, it's not going to work.

It sure isn't working on sysnand. If I can't install on sysnand or emunand, then what am I going to do? Shell out even more money just so I can get a sky3ds?

If you're on Sysnand 9.2 / 9.0 > Confirm you have a folder named "dbs" in your Sysnands ID folder, inside dbs should be two files named title.db & import.db (If you don't have either, create the folder & create the files as .txt, but changing the extension to .db) *.db files should not look like text files after renaming* > If you had to create the folder / files go into Sysnand > System Settings > Database Management > 3DS > Software > Let it rebuild > Ninjhax 1.1 > Pasta or Reinand (hold [ B ] at the splash screen till it goes black as you hit [start] to boot to ReiSys) > Ninjhax 1.1 > FBI > Install your title manager > Pasta or Rei > Unwrap the title manager > Turn off N3DS > Connect mSD to computer & backup the contents> insert mSD > Format Emunand > Turn off > Copy copy contents back to mSD > Confirm it's on the emunand.

^It's fun when you don't have a flashcart (gateway) :P

Start over. Install the 2 .db files to sd card. Go into system/datamanagement/3ds. Run cubic ninja, run pasta, run cubic ninja, run fbi to install fbi.cia. unwrap fbi. backup sd card. Setup emunand. Restore sd backup and add reinand. Run cubic ninja, run reinand. Should be good to go. Remove sd fard and do a system format.

I basically had to do both. Now my issue is that my new emunand now has the altered system settings of the previous sysnand. But that's fixable. Thanks for the help, guys.

Edit: I have no idea how this happened...
I verified that BBM was installed to the linked emunand and reformatted the sysnand. Now it's gone. Here we go again.

Edit2: I've had to go through the steps twice just to get the intended end result and now it's all set up. Thanks guys!

Hi @fire3element

i think maybe i wasn't clear enough in my post.. I didn't end up with anything installed to SYSNAND. when i said "I don't know what caused it for me, but i had the EXACT same issue", I am referring to the issue of 3DS cart recognition first being delayed, then eventually not reading any cart at all, unless I ejected the cart and reinserted it. I had that exact issue, and system format helped me. how i got the issue, i'm not sure (hence the first part of the statement, where I mentioned not knowing what caused it for me). It was not due to installing something in emunand and having it show up in sysnand, as far as i can recall. Almost ALWAYS, when that issue (something showing in sysnand that was supposed to be installed in emunand) is reported to me, I've found that the user either forgot that they hadn't actually formatted emunand on their current SD/microSD, and were in fact using gateway mode (or whatever exploit/cart they use to get to emunand, normally) on SYSNAND when they installed. not saying that's what happened to you, I'm just saying that's my experience, for what it's worth.

@Reisyukaku: I think there's a weird bug with the emuNAND code. I made a CIA out of my Japanese retail Pokémon AS cart (I have a US system, but I don't think it's a region issue per se..) and exported its save via SaveDataFiler, then imported it to the CIA (making sure to delete the secure value), and the game claims it's not compatible with the current version. When I boot into Reinand sysNAND, the game loads the save just fine (if you want more details on everything I tried, check out http://gbatemp.net/threads/pokémon-...-to-cia-version-from-retail-cartridge.398113/ ). Out of curiosity I disabled the ARM9 thread (or tried to, I just commented out the fileread and memcpys in firm.c, is that enough?), but it didn't seem to affect it. I also tried Gateway's emuNAND mode (not classic mode) and it's also affected by this, but not when in sysNAND mode. I can't get RxTools to work on my New 3DS without crashing, so I can't really tell you if it persists on other CFWs or not.

It's not a huge deal to me though, this save I wanted to import only had about 5 hours of gameplay on it. I just thought I'd mention it.

Hey,
Any plans to use the newly released HomeMenuHax or BrowserHax from Yellows8 as an entrypoint ?

im not sure i understand the problem but reinand has never bugged on me up till now.. so its hard to fix things i cant replicate. Especially considering the code is minimalistic enough that there shouldn't be an issue.

I was gonna look into that months ago but now that he actually released that, i might check it out.
