Looks likes Sony's starting to ban PS3s again after the recent advancements in the PS3 scene and CFW. Users that have been banned are receiving an 8002A231 connection error, even after the use of circumvention software such as fckPSN.

Can't say I'm totally against this, even as a user myself. The online cheating was getting ridiculous...

It's either CFW or PSN.

I agree with Sony on the banwave.
CFW leads to cheating and cheating is bad for the online experience.
Even if users aren't cheating on CFW.
It's either piracy (which 99% of the CFW users are doing) or online service.

Same goes for jTAG/RGH 360's
It's either piracy or online service.
Not both (Dual NAND doesn't count since that's using a retail state)

Well when you use CFW or other types of hacks of any kind it's your responsibility to realize that it could mean this.

So hope for the best but prepare for the worst. And don't throw a "SONY IS EVIL THEY BANNED MY PS3!" hissy fit because not a shit will be given.

I'm seeing this a lot right now. The amount of self-entitlement people think they deserve is almost sickening. Hell, there are folks arguing that Sony is shit for banning them, yet actively pirating AC3 or BLOPS 2 because they're too expensive. They knew the risks so it's their fault.

It's funny because that's what people get pissed off about. And then they complain and do whatever they can to make Sony look bad. But it's like, come on, you're hacking the console that in most cases, ruins the experience for other people. Hell, if Nintendo was able to ban DS's from going online when people used cheats via flashcard online, I would totally be in support of that.

Sony is correct in this matter. Though I'd still like to be able to buy games from the online store.

In this circumstance, if I wanted to keep PSN access while still being able to pirate things. I'd go offline until the new PS3 ODDE is out, get one, grab the key from the PS3, and then install OFW on it. This is solely because I'm not really a homebrew, CFW kind of person. Mainly interested in the disc games, rather than emulators, homebrew, etc. So if I'd be able to keep PSN access, while still getting disc games for free that's a plus plus. Not sure if it's logged like the 360, or whatnot but I'd assume it's not. Or else we'd have a huge ban wave.

They have been saying that since the first hacks in 2010.
They cannot ban your console, because you can spoof your ID therefore get someone else banned thats why they are not doing it.
