Is there really enough of a difference between the two that the original Sonic needs his own character model?

Also, they need to just make a Sonic SatAM game. That would be awesome to play through the series.

As far as I know they said that it is going to be structured similar to Sonic 3&K. In this case Episode I is S3 and Episode II is S&K and together they form Sonic 3&K or respectively Sonic 4.

So I guess one more Episode for Sonic 4.

I think it's more of a fear of Colours being a one-off deal.
Of course, I liked the other wii ones (Sure, BK was a bit... Weird, but it's a spin-off separate from the entire sonic-verse, and it WAS kind of fun to play)
The originals were amazing, absolutely amazing, but these days Sega prefers making broken games. (By broken, I mean where the good aspects are amazing, but the bad are absolute travesties).
How many people enjoyed the unleashed daytime stages?
How many loved advance but hated the damn insistence on not letting you carry proper momentum?
How many thought Sonic 4 was a great yet incomplete game?
etc.

But hey, I for one am suspending my doubt, since Colours shows they CAN do it, and how much better it was received might tell them something.
And for the record, I am hoping for a Sonic game with an AI tails again.
Co-op play in S3K made my childhood.

This is Sonic 1, 2 and 3 remade in the unleashed style minus the werehog.

although you can't really tell, this is just a debut trailer, but if this is the case then i would really have my hopes up

to the average sonic fan, i doubt they had issues with the unleashed day time levels, they weren't that bad with respect to how Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 went about it.

Sony fully deserves it, the Playstation systems have always been similar in style and popularity to the Sega consoles and they always release games that are actually good on them. For example, nintendo release some fat podger that walks and jumps- 'mario' and Sega release a cool hedghog that has fast and engaging gameplay- Sonic so naturally sonic deserves to be on the superior system- PS3.
