Hi, i found something and i got a question, please if this is the wrong place for the thread do remove it, moving on...

So a lot of you know this unreleased Sonic Demo on DS http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_DS, for those who don't, in short it was a demo game to show what the DS is capable to do, this demo was made way before Sonic Rush was announced back in 2004 but was never released!

here's a video of it in motion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bCefT3uKHs...player_embedded

so i looked around and found a link to where to download it, but after trying it on several DS emulator and my R4 flash card, unfortunately it's not recognizable, here's the download link anyway:

    -snip-

some people say it's fake, but after unpacking the .NDS file with DS-Lazy i found several files inside including both 7arm.bin and 9arm.bin!

i'm not good in hacking so i wouldn't know but i wanna make sure, is this rom really fake or is it just unrecognizable for some reason? and if it's the second option is there a way to crack it to work? i know most people aren't interested in it but i know a lot others who are, thank you!

Wow, I've never seen this. The visuals look great, but I'm kinda glad it was never released as it seems more like a minigame than anything else.

And a way for Nintendo to cash in on DS repairs.

I remember that demo........For awhile I was trying to figure out what game that was from (when I saw it awhile back), but I slowly forgot about it.

Pretty funny video I assume there was a reason this game was not developed further.

Keep in mind it was designed to run on a prototype DS.
It's highly likely that changes made to the final product were significant enough, that if you somehow got ahold of this Sonic DS prototype ROM, existing DS flashcarts or emulators would not be able to run it.

    hey!! I remember that one!
my guess is they showed it to showcase what the ds was capable...great graphics(even for today's ds standards) and the touch screen exclusive control.

    that's a DEMO alright!

    I reported it.

The site he linked to also contains all the NDS releases, not just the demo.

The demo itself is slighly iffy too, as it's not a demo as in the type released to the public; it's an internal build for their own use. Although you could probably get away with posting it.

don't forget the L&R triggers [IMG]

Well when this demo was announced in 2004 i was as excited as the next guy because of the graphics it had, later on when Mario and Sonic Olympics came for DS i couldn't help noticing the similarities those two games have wither their graphics or the gameplay, so in a way i guess Sega DID make use of that game after all, anyway thanks for the reply, i hope someday we will get our hands on this game just for the heck of it!

This game actually looks better than Mario and Sonic IMHO. It seems to have more detail put in it.
