Hi, i found something and i got a question, please if this is the wrong place for the thread do remove it, moving on...

So a lot of you know this unreleased Sonic Demo on DS http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_DS, for those who don't, in short it was a demo game to show what the DS is capable to do, this demo was made way before Sonic Rush was announced back in 2004 but was never released!

here's a video of it in motion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bCefT3uKHs...player_embedded

so i looked around and found a link to where to download it, but after trying it on several DS emulator and my R4 flash card, unfortunately it's not recognizable, here's the download link anyway:

-snip-

some people say it's fake, but after unpacking the .NDS file with DS-Lazy i found several files inside including both 7arm.bin and 9arm.bin!

i'm not good in hacking so i wouldn't know but i wanna make sure, is this rom really fake or is it just unrecognizable for some reason? and if it's the second option is there a way to crack it to work? i know most people aren't interested in it but i know a lot others who are, thank you!

no one is exempt from the rules doesnt matter if they joined a few months

Wow, I've never seen this. The visuals look great, but I'm kinda glad it was never released as it seems more like a minigame than anything else.

I mean you have 4 buttons and a d-pad, WHY NOT USE 'EM?

Also, did you guys notice the DS prototype in the video? lol

Keep in mind it was designed to run on a prototype DS.
It's highly likely that changes made to the final product were significant enough, that if you somehow got ahold of this Sonic DS prototype ROM, existing DS flashcarts or emulators would not be able to run it.

hey!! I remember that one!
my guess is they showed it to showcase what the ds was capable...great graphics(even for today's ds standards) and the touch screen exclusive control.

that's a DEMO alright!

it's a E3 demo not a retail game? why was the link removed?
Because a ROM remains a ROM. That's why we can't have demos of any other game either. Some places host them, but not here.

Funny if Costello posted a rom site
But he doesn't and won't ever do that.

I reported it.

The site he linked to also contains all the NDS releases, not just the demo.

The demo itself is slighly iffy too, as it's not a demo as in the type released to the public; it's an internal build for their own use. Although you could probably get away with posting it.

Well on my defense i didn't know posting links to ROMs is illegal "which still isn't an excuse to me" but on the bright side this game was never released so it's not like Sega or Nintendo are cashing money on selling it, and the ROM link was just for testing purposes so it wasn't meant to harm anyone, but it's good that the link was removed, anyway if anyone needs the link he can send me a private message and i'll send it to him!

This sure explains a lot!

Well when this demo was announced in 2004 i was as excited as the next guy because of the graphics it had, later on when Mario and Sonic Olympics came for DS i couldn't help noticing the similarities those two games have wither their graphics or the gameplay, so in a way i guess Sega DID make use of that game after all, anyway thanks for the reply, i hope someday we will get our hands on this game just for the heck of it!
