...if Nintendo will release Wii firmware 4.4 or DSi firmware 1.4.6 out of nowhere. It would be such a typical Nintendo thing to do - updating decades old consoles just to patch a homebrew exploit on them.

I know that Sony destroyed their QA vitas that were used to test firmwares with.
I wouldn't be surprised that Nintendo has a similar system in place and they possibly cleared that out as well.
