If you want, you can share the problem you had with moonshell, so you can get some help.
If it boots then moonshell should to. It is more likely a dodgy microSD card if it is anything hardware and more likely than that is a minor software issue with moonshell.
On "Ipod DS", I can not say I have ever heard of it but it might also be the same thing as Lick's media player (usually termed lmp-ng) which does music pretty well, though it can be picky about the carts it runs on. http://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/applications/download-lmp-ng-12-stable-f5622.html
