Hellcat's Recovery Flasher does work with 5.50 GEN-B. I've done it before.

so, why do i get errors about missing files on startup of hellcats app ?
pspdecrypter.prx and more are missing

more errors come when i choose option to reflash cfw

do you have a psp2000 ? a have a 1000

I used Hellcat's 1.6 and the 5.00 update and it ran smootly. Im sure you downloaded from the link I showed.

Before DA's forum shut down one of the Mods did a review of GEN B...those errors you describe are exactly what he mentioned about Recovery Flasher failing to uninstall it (GEN A will uninstall with Recovery Flasher however).

Personally i'd avoid GEN B completely unless you're happy reflashing if problems pop up, and have a Pandora battery handy for a full reflash from MS.

EDIT: I FORGOT TO MENTION that your memory stick MUST be a genuine Sony stick for Despertar to work. if you don't have one, find one! also, it can't be higher than 4 GB. and always have your charger handy.

You won't be able to uninstall 5.00 again unless oyu have backed it up using Hellcat's.

The Flashing doesn't work correctly when installing a fresh M33 running on GEN-B.

Your only option is to aquire a pandora's battery, and use Despertat Del Cementario to downgrade.

You can use your own battery, you don't need to worry about having a backup.


First off, you need to back up your memory stick.

then DL this.

use the "mspformat.exe" in that archive to format your memory stick.

turn off/get rid of any custom themes on your PSP.

copy the DC8 folder to the root/PSP/GAME folder of your memory stick (create folders in neccessary).

download the sony official eboot (I don't know if I can post it here, so I won't) for 5.00, easy to find.

rename it to 500.pbp (if neccessary), and copy it to your root.

run DC8 on your psp (it should have a tree icon thing) and follow the onscreen instructions.

afterwards, download Hellcat's Pandora Installer here.

copy it to your momery stick, and run it. go to battery options, and go to "Dump your battery serial". then go to "Make a Pandora Battery".

It should now display "fxxxxxxxxx" or something in that order in the upper right corner where your serial was once displayed.

that's good, you now have your Pandora battery.


next, close the program, and go back to the XMB. pop the battery out, along with the memory stick. put the battery back in to test the Pandora. It should power the PSP on but give a black screen.

that's good.

now put the stick back in and put the battery in afterwards and a menu should show up!

choose "Install M33" and let it do it's magic.

once it's finished, pick restart. your PSP should go to a fresh 5.00 M33-4 Menu XMB, go to your system settings to make sure it worked.

If not, take the battery out, and put the charger in and start it. it should run.

then go run Hallcat's pandora installer and go to battery options, and run "Set serial from backup". your battery is now back to normal.

DL your 5.00 M33-6 update here, and run it.


Congrats, you're now on 5.00 M33-6. Fuck GEN-B and it's buggy bullshit.

In my opinion, I actually like 5.50 GEN-B. CXMB works fine provided you download themes for 5.50, and POPS works fine as well. I haven't had any problems with 5.50 GEN-B. I dunno about this video playback issue, but I have videos and they play just fine. My other plugins (CWCheat and Hold+) also work great. GEN just has a bad hype, although it's not a bad CFW at all. GEN-B has never crashed on me. Not once.

to tell you the truth, I have nothing wrong with GEN-B, too. It's that that Dissidia: Final Fantasy and Project Diva freezes when choosing them. The CWCHEAT is active. it happens occassionally.

GEN B is not that bad. I can play videos fine and it ALWAYS saves my settings (all videos are full screen)

Also, my Memory Stick is 8GB and MagicGate is always Unknown in the PSP. It ran perfectly on my PSP 2001 TA-088v1 (as shown in a picturefrom previous topic). I dont know what's wrong with mrgone's situation or it being a PSP1000.

If there are ay update on either sides, im going to update it again

hellcats pandora tool's option to make pandoira battery doesn't have any effect ( on the serial)
wasn't there some kind of hardware mod involved in the creation of a pandora battery ?
i have a psp1000

i repeated the procedure: format with mspformat, install dc8, make battery with hellcats pandora tool
serial does not change

Two things,1. I followed your instructions EXACTLY, and when I chose make pandora battery, I tested it and it wasnt Pandora.
and 2. The memory cards fault? its lexar 4gb.

EDIT: HOW TO FIX:
*Before this, go to Hellcats Pandora INstaller and battery options, set serial to whatever.
1. Press Select at the XMB and select Make Pandora Battery.
2. Take battery out and memory card.
3.Put memory card in, and then battery. And menu will come up.
4. Choose Install M33
5. Select Restart.
6. May come up with blue screen, press O to get pass this.
7. Go to Hellcats Pandora Installer and battery options, then press restore serial.
8. Voilah, you have a new menu. XD

gonna try the downgrade tonight again

well for me, after i use the gen b-2 updater all problems are gone se far (i can again run snes games and all my homebrew stuff). the only problem i can tell you is the cso bad loading time
