Software or Hardware issue?

I have a Question as i am not sure if my soft or hardware is broken ...

Since a while i got some problems with my PC and i am going to format it later but recently some games tend to crash and i get a message about my grafics driver beeing crashed and restarted ... now even that windows rating system tells me my grafic went down from 7.9 points to 2.0 point oO while testing the "driver" crashed several times again.

even after updating the driver software its still the same
(i have an old ATI 4800 HD and use newest Catalyst Driver)

possible that some part of the hardware broke down and the normal stuff still works or is this impossible as it wouldn't work at all anymore if something would be wrong with the hardware ?

If it keeps crashing through different drivers then it's possible you could be having hardware issues. Check and clean the fans on your GPU, make sure there are solid connections, and if all of that doesn't change anything then it would most likely be the GPU is going bad.
