Hacking Softmodded wii issue

Hi guys, I softmodded a friends 4.3E Wii last year, installed homebrew, usb loaders etc. I used Letterbomb to install the homebrew channel. Everything worked fine, the games loaded from an external HDD without any problems. Earlier tonight, I installed a few more wbfs games onto the external HDD using wiibackup manager. No problem the process ran smoothly. However when I connected the HDD back onto the wii, whatever channel I tried, be it the hombrew or USB loader, they would go to load but the screen remained blank. Nothng would load, the only way I could switch the console off was a long press on the power button. How can I fix these issues???
