Homebrew Softmod help for playing burned discs.....

So, new here and to modding the Wii, but not to other hacks and computer building. From the top: I have the original (white) Wii. I have loaded Homebrew, USB loader, Priloader and Wad manager. I have followed umpteen tutorials, searched and researched, tweeked settings and still cannot get ISO burned discs of games to read. The Wii firmware is v4.3u. I find conflicting information on playing discs. I have watched a couple videos showing it can be done, but I'm at a loss as to where I've gone wrong and after 5 hours of loading and modding, I'm still at square one. I'm sure it's something simple I've overlooked since my brain is now mush. Searching has just raised more questions and uncertainties. Any help from someone patient enough to go through all this again (yes, I've read posts. lol) would be greatly appreciated. Our Wii has pretty much sat collecting dust and we've pulled it out to have some fun! Thanks, Ski

I forget the date, but iirc, wii's made 2009 and later can't play burned discs.

It's much easier to put the games on a large hard drive then play them off a burned disc

Yeah, I know. I have access to a large disc library and I didn't want to have to transfer everything I play over to the HDD, but I guess
that's where I'm headed.
