Hard to keep up, but I should be checking your actual dev site for updates, so now I am

I am contemplating learning C++ as it has always been a niggle that I should and want to know how to do these kinds of programs myself. It also doesn't help when your brother works in the games industry making games and wants you to join him and learn how to code. So I guess I will do soon, been reading some notes on the very very basics.

Arm The Homeless, is that r11?

Do I need to uninstall previous Cios and install rr.wad which is the new Cios by wanan. or can I just overwrite old Cios with the revision Cios. Also do both softchip PAL and USA run off the same cios?

Any help is appericiated

Oh, and requiem, I think you stated that you made a OS for 64-bit processors.
Mind to say what it's called?

(I might be confusing you with somebody else)

EDIT: And yes, it is r11. Fresh from the compiler.

My OS is still in development. I don't forsee a public release of it anytime in the near future. It's a microkernel Unix called Century. (Named because I assume it'll take that long to complete.)

i can host that for folks if you'd allow me to . pm me if you like . i like developing on linux better than windows anyways (used to on the dreamcast anyways, was much much faster )

Just out of curiosity, if requiem could answer this then great but anyone who knows is also good.

With this r11 of Softchip, would you recommend using this in place of both 0.1 and 0.3 loaders? Is it running as compatible or better still with more compatibility?

I would like to get rid of anything that isn't really needed and I think that could have been part of your initial plan, to simplify matters with ONE easy to use loader that incorporates the best parts from both older loaders with some new enhancements and efficiency.

Absolutely, the beauty of the GPL is that you can do whatever you want with it as long as you include the source and the license.

r11 works, but it is still pre-alpha. Use whatever works best for you.

Requiem, I understand that, but in your opinion, would you say that r11 is working better now with all the current improvements? Like I said, I would like to clean up my SD card and have only what is needed. If I can have 1 single loader doing what the other two did previously, then obviously that is better for me.

Maybe your not wanting to come across as arrogant by saying your loader is better now or something and I understand. On compatibility, can you say that this is working as good as the other 2 loaders combined?

Yeah can someone upload the actual cios needed with Softchip r11. This way anyone wanting to use it can take off everything else and only install these two required files and get it working. There has been numerous modified and re-released versions of cios's and it's impossible to know what is what. I have about 20 on my machine and I am unable to tell what is what seriously.

So it would be greatly appreciated I am sure if someone could make a download with the needed files in what folders they need to be in and named so we know what exactly they are, then we can just modify the name to boot.dol or whatever.

Hangs in a black screen, nothing else happens, which cIOS am I suppose to have in order to get it working??

This is something many others are experiencing (myself included), although after several attempts it does boot to menu. Not sure why it boots sporadically for some

This is a bit of both. It's a personal goal first and foremost, but here's the kicker. I have 6 kids, 1 wii, and not a lot of money to keep replacing scratched discs.

I like the sounds of that bro...Mad respect..I know in the economy we live in today every bit you can save helps

do you have a paypal donations setup man? just curious? I mean if it helps deving a lot of brewers support that especially when its something huge

and I am very very happy to see its open sourced under GPL that alone demands a gr8 deal of respect

thanks again for your time and for answering our questions bro! cant wait to try this when it gets optimized

I wouldn't be surprised if people are having issues because they have the wrong cios installed and think they are using the correct one. Like I said above, if someone have the correct cios, requiem?? that we need for this and if they could include that with the Softchip.dol then that would be fantastic.

Mmmmmmmmh strage thing, the Iron Man always change my TV from 480p to 480i, and with SoftChip does the same, I mean still hangs on the GSoD, but at least it is loading more like the original one...lol

the correct cIOS is the same as the cIOS used for backup launcher v3 (cIOS_installer_v6) . As long as it is installed as IOS249

@ stev418

That's the problem, with all the confusion and trying to get a working setup, I used the new install. The one that installs the cios to 247 for 0.3 and then you use DVDx set to 249. I definitely have the wrong cios and I can't remember for the life of day where to get the original one that is needed. So I ask again, if someone would be kind enough to upload it here then it would be massively appreciated.

Even djtaz seems to have the modified loader on his download link, so I can't use that
