Homebrew So whats this.... Homebrew?

yep I'm a total noob, but i cant find a strait answer on what homebrew is.

from what i know is i can get a n64 emulator on it

is it for cheats? is it to get free games? (see im totaly lost)

Devkitpro is not an official sdk, the creators copied some(many?) Parts from the official nintendo sdk but it's still not official (and I know no homebrew created with it).
Most homebrew on the xbox1 was created with the leaked official sdk.

2 questions: what is homebrew chanel for? (
and is it worth the risk? (i heard it can brick your wii, im going to use the brawl way were you put it on an sd card an load it from the brawl stage creator.)
