I just had a money grabbing idea for Nintendo to do, what if for say 50 or 100 bucks you send in your wii and they upgrade the hardware to support SDHC and SDXC cards. Sure they may be some fiascos but hey Nintendo make enough to fathom it

Wouldn't it be a hell of a lot more feasible to just release a dongle that supports the new cards instead of modifying already exisitng hardware? Oh and the hardware already supports SDHC. It also seems that they wouldn't want to give us high capacity storage what with all the rampant piracy and what not.


I'm guessing it'd still be a while after the new technology is rolled out that we'd see the 2TB cards. Also be prepared to pay through the nose for them.

The price would most likely by scary though. Anyone remember when 4 gb sd card were over $100 months after launch? 2TB (holy shit) would cost a lot more. Until the 4 tb comes out.

Not quite.
1,000 is rounded from what it actually is, 1,024.

GB=1,024MB
TB=1,024GB (1,048,576MB)
PB=1,024TB (1,048,576GB, 1,073,741,824MB)

Even a Terabyte gives you 24 GB than 1,000, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. So the 2TB max card of the SDXC spec would give you 2,048GB. Not 2,000. Big difference as it gets bigger and bigger. So, even approximating it to be 1,000 leads to problems.

I think you'll find that you do get the amount of storage stated but it's the file system that eats up X amount of gig once the drive's formatted etc...

Its 1080p but the games for both PS3 and 360 that is native 1080p are quite few :/

If you were to use this on a wii, the only ways i could think of would be.
1. Wii Revision which has a hardware implementation
2. a gamecube dongle of a sort.
I don't know how fast the gamecube ports are, i'm assuming their faster than the stupidly placed usb 1.1 ports on the wii though.

I hope you all know, it has the POSSIBILITY of holding 2TB. Its gonna be years until we see an affordable version of 2TB, at the least.

And current SDHC could already reach this capacity in theory, but it would break the current standard of SDHC, and not all devices would work with it, but quite a few would

I thought that theoratically, SDHC only has 32gb limit??
Even though there isn't that many on the market yet.
So these SDXC will probably start off with like 64GB? work their way up

I think next generation consoles will likely use flash cards or something of sorts instead of discs.
If today a 8gb SD card goes for 14$, imagine its price in 3 years. For 14$ you will probably be able to get a half TB one.
