unholyfire has released the first homebrew emulator for the Nintendo Wii. He's ported SNES9X GX v1.43 to run it native Wii mode. Unlike other emulators that run on the Wii under GameCube mode, this emulator runs in pure 100% Nintendo Wii mode.

Changes from Snes9xGx 1.43

- Added Wii DVD detection capability (allows you to browse the DVD to fetch
ROMS)

- Changed "goto menu" function to button combo "L+R+X+Y" (to support SNES/GC
adapters and/or homebrew controllers)

Sounds great! Hopefully, a way to boot from the built-in SD Slot is found soon.

Very nice.
The GameCube emulators on Wii piss the hell out of my, as I have to get up and manually restart/turn off the Wii

Man I really want this. Oh well, time to wait for ability to use the Wii's SD reader.

uhmmm, i just went to that link and the emulator on that page is meant to run in GC mode even though it's still specifically made for the wii.

it's extension is .DOL , that's for GC mode.

this is a SNES emulator that's supposed to run using the twilight hack which requires only the Zelda TP game and an SD card. you dont' need to mod your wii

It's extension is .DOL simply because it was made using GC's libraries (because there's no libwii yet). Rename it to .ELF.

A DOL to ELF converter is just out.. anyone tested it with this yet?
Also..
"Added Wii DVD detection capability"

If this works with an unmoded wii.. that's the first step for soft-modding!

Can someone test it?
