As most people might be aware of by now this is just the frontend of the SNES Classic being cloned in a homebrew application. It does not currently do anything than to serve as a proof of concept of that kind of menu and currently does nothing.

That being said, any further posts that are unrelated to this homebrew will be instantly deleted as being offtopic. This is not your topic to derail by discussing forum members.

Now lets talk about how even the GBATemp "news team" got the message in here wrong and speaks about a SNES Mini port, that doesnt exist.

Lets talk about how a skin to a launcher concept that was released three months ago can create that much hope and praise in people, that this will solve all emulation related problems they are facing (this is not an emulator, and it cant directly launch specific games in retroarch either).

And lets talk about how this never can be released without comiting license infringement, because its based on proprietary Nintendo assets -

because thats the actual story here - which people still don't want to hear.

Also I hope those comments arent received by you as "aggressive" - because they conflict with your believes, but this is the current state of things.

So after three unconfronted pages of misrepresentation on the project (thread pages 1-3), with no correction in sight, after a factually wrong news headline on the frontpage of gbatemp (the author himself stated "this is not a port"), and with arguably about 80% of people in here believing, that this is something it is not. Its still more important to let "imaginations fly" and "let the dev do - what he cant say what he wants to do - because its too early".

While all the questions about, what this conceptually is, and what it is not - have to remain unanswered, and it still is simply too much to ask - that the dev edits his first posting to make sure that not more confusion is caused.

And all of this, because I said what this is - "too agressively" (I said it in a calm manner, then was imediatly caught off guard by a "don't shit on the dev" reply) and some people didnt like it.

I dont think thats fair. The current state of this thread (and the corresponding news article) doesn't allow people to make informed decisions.

I think this is something pretty neat that could maybe be tweaked a little and implemented in Retroarch as another menu style. Only, like the XMB style, it'd need to be changed a little as to avoid infringing on copyright stuff.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
