I used NUS Auto Downloader to get the files for Sneek DI , prepared an SD , launch Bootmii then i get a No Signal . If i press the POWER button a screen with scrambled black /white colors appears .
I renamed sd:\sneek\kernel.bin to boot2_usb.bin , repeat the process , this time screen goes black and the drive light turn on ( does not flash ,just stays on ) . I waited for 5 minuted then plugged it off .
What am i doing wrong ? Do i really need my own NAND to make this work ? The NUSAD asked me for my serial in the process of downloading but i just left it default with some other serial .

Folders on SD are :

bootmii

- bootmii.ini
- switchtosneek ( 0kb ,no extension )
-armboot.bin
shared1 - a lot of app files
sneek

- font.bin
- kernel.bin
-di.bin
-rev.txt
ticket

- 00000001 folder
- 00010001 folder
- 00010002 folder (they all have tik files inside )
sys - uid.sys
title - 00010002 - >content -> data ( a lot of folders of this kind )
WAD - 31 wad downloaded by NUSAD including the 4.2 system menu wad

Is my mirror NAND already created or must i do something else ?

SNEEK+DI must have a game on the USB to boot at all. WAD folder is not needed and will only slow the boot down, delete the WAD folder. Other than that, use NUSAD to get you a nand or try yours first after putting the game on a USB and everything will work out for you or should.

If you need help with setting up a USB the first post will help you with that.

Ok, forget DI ..i'm trying the simple Sneek . Does not even boot with that . It goes to a grey screen i'm waiting and waiting..it's been half an hour, nothing happens .
I got the pack using NUSAD , it's 324MB , should have all it takes .

I'm not trying to usb load , just want to check it out, has a lot of potential , want to get familiar with it .

Try using crediars installer to create sneek files. I couldn't get sneek working with NUSAD either. I was able to successfully boot sneek only when i overwrote NUSAD files with armboot.bin & kernel.bin from crediars installer. The NUSAD generated nand files were good, but at least for me, the generated armboot.bin/kernel.bin were botched.

I compiled the sneek files with the guide in the first post, but they didn't work, using the crediar installer all works good
I use a NUSAD nand 4.2

fyi, the armboot.bin NUSAD downloads is crediar's precompiled armboot.bin from the sneek google code page. So they will be the same regardless of what sneek installer u use.

The kernel.bin, and di.bin's are made differently. However, NUSAD still uses crediar's tools (ioskpatch and elfins) to build those files. The commands I am using are the same ones used by crediar's build_boot2.cmd. I've built NUSAD's sneek installer to mirror crediar's installer as much as possible, so if one installer works but not the other, I would be very shocked. And since I've had nothing but success with NUSAD's SNEEK installer, I don't know what to think.

Can those people having issues installing SNEEK using NUSAD please post what type of sneek they were trying to install? I will try to replicate the problem myself (and if it works for me on the first try, I'll come back and post that u guys are all crazy!)

Skk-depth is right , i replaced armboot.bin and kernel.bin and Sneek loaded . I configured the date,time,country etc..now my problem is the System menu won't load . I get those TV's on the screen then a blackscreen .

I downloaded a pack with system menu 4.3E

u building SNEEK, SNEEK+DI, UNEEK or UNEEK+DI??

as I said, armboot.bin is for sure not the problem, if anything its just the kernel.bin.

I'll have to test this again, but I know I used NUSAD to build sneek and nand for uneek+di and it worked fine ( I also tried other ones, but mostly uneek+di). I'll have to test again, but I don't think anything would've changed

If you are compiling yourself you may want to update you DevKitArm to r31. It was giving me fits till I updated. Now everything is fine.

I got the basic Sneek , fw 4.3 and changed the serial number where it was required .
I assume you can you also change that later in the settings.txt ?

ChokeD , i'm not at the level of compiling yet , for starters i'm ..complaining..lol

Changing an existing settings.txt is not as easy as editing a text file since its encrypted. I've got a program that can decrypt but I can't seem to re-encrypt it and have it work (or even be the right size for that matter)

To be honest i tried all 4 setups with 4.2E , all failed, gave a "No Signal " on the screen , a grey screen lasting forever or a scrambled black & white .

Then i got Sneek with 4.3E , replaced the 2 files , it worked untill accesing the System menu interface ,then blackscreen

Anyone tested Uloader on Sneek ?

Hi XFlak, i can reproduce the problem with wrong sneek build in NUSAD consistently:
-> choosing option 3 (full build, sneek + nand)
-> sneek
-> default folder (COPY_TO_SD)
-> EURO
-> 4.2 SysMenu
-> default serial
-> install mii channel (here is a bug too, mii channel doesn't get installed even if choosen. I dont think the wad gets downloaded at all.)

Builded sneek files:
armboot.bin e62be393
kernel.bin 42aba938

copying it to sd, booting gives grey screen.

When building with crediars installer, following files are created

armboot.bin e62be393 (same as NUSAD)
kernel.bin 0f7e24c3 (different crc)

Overwritting the kernel.bin on sd card makes sneek successfully boot.

Before that, almost pulled my hair out trying all possible combinations with NUSAD for hours, no go... Then as last resort i tried using installer and its files and it worked finally.

I will look into this more... thx for the info.

fyi, the kernel.bin was never supposed to be the same as the one made by crediar's installer (well, they should be, but let me explain). The difference lies in how crediar's ioskpatch and/or elfins operate. But the kernel.bin's are VERY similar (if u do a hex compare, there should only be a few small differences). I asked Crediar about it (at the time only v4 of his installer was released) and he said that his installer was not applying the es_identify patch (i think) but that it should not make a difference, and that ioskpatch and elfins should still work great.

Anyways, if after further testing, I cannot get my sneek installer to work, the cause of the problem is most likely crediar's ioskpatch and elfins... if this is the case, NUSAD Sneek installer will start working again once crediar updates those apps.

rest assured, this is on my to do list!

@choked, any chance of running a couple tests? We can compare results via PM! If not, thats ok. Thx man!

edit:
my results so far.
I used the exact same settings as u described above in NUSAD to build 4.2E nand + SNEEK, and it loaded perfectly fine on my first attempt.
However, u are correct, the Mii channel did not install or even get downloaded. I will look into this further, but it should be an easy fix.

It may be possible that ioskpatch creates modules that are less compatible with some SD Cards and/or USB HDDs (I just read in another thread that SNEEK revs 102+ have greater USB HDD compatibility issues). If this is the case, it will be fixed automatically in NUSAD once crediar released an updates ioskpatch. I don't know if this is the issue for sure... all I know, is that using the EXACT same setup as u, it worked for me... the only difference is probably the SD card's we used.

Is it me or is Monster Hunter Tri simply doesn't work on UNEEK+DI? I could get past the safety screen and the logo screens, but when I clicked "Begin Game", it just black screened and stayed like that. I checked and found that the game was able to create a save file in the system memory. I have IOS55 installed.

I was trying 2 different sd cards with different formatting setups (fat, fat32, different block size, etc), none worked. (SanDisk 2Gb & Kingston 4Gb)

What is the crc of your kernel.bin, is it 42aba938 too? I dont think usb hd compatibility was an issue, uneek/uneek+di didnt work, but neither did pure sneek sd setup.

I got the same thing, and it works for me!!!
Code:
kernel.bin 42ABA938

this is starting 2 get weird

i think it maybe ioskpatch and elfins is not as up to date as the gui installer, and the gui installer has better compatability... i dunno, just guessing, but if thats the case... there's nothing more i can do other than wait

it would help if i could replicate the problem too, oh well
