Gaming Snaking on mario kart

I've been trying to teach myself snaking but I'm not having much luck, I cant seem to get the boost quick enough, and my fingers hurt.

At first it's quite difficult, and yes your fingers will probably hurt. Keep practicing and you'll get better. It has a lot to do with timing, rather than just trying to rush it.

Oh man i miss the good old days. The trick is to just chillax and do it slowly. But not too slow.

Are you using a DS lite or phat?
It works better with a DS lite in my experience. A DS phat's D-pad is too large, and you need a really big thumb to snake using it.
Practice snaking a lot on Figure 8 Circuit time trial, eventually you'll beat the staff ghost and that's when you know that you've mastered snaking.

Thats what I've been doing, but I cant seem to get the rhythm or stay in the middle, i just hit the sides. (I'm using a lite)

I loved the phats buttons since it clicks. Seems easier for me because ican use the sound for timing. Well thats just me, i dont know about others.

Keep in mind you only have to press left-right TWICE for each boost.

It's better to go slower and make sure you press left-right-left-right, then to crazily move your thumb back and forth and hope it works.

I beat the nintendo ghost but that film is insane, I stillv eer off and my snaking isn't in the centre like his!

try double jumping right after you get the boost, and go towards the direction you want to go.

Geez i thought my 1:24 on figure 8 was good. The staff is quite easy. If you beat the staff ghost that definitely doesn't mean you have mastered snaking.
Now to somehow try and beat that time

- here's how I snake (DS phat)
as soon as I drift, I don't repeatedly press left/right, just tap left, and then right. then the wheels get the blue flame. tap left, and tap right again. red flame. release and jump, and go to the direction you are going to. keeping your finger on the dpad doesn't seem to work well, i just quickly tap.
It's not that hard, and your fingers won't hurt that much.
so as soon as you jump and press a direction button for drifting, tap left, tap right, tap left, tap right, release R and press r few times until you get to a perfect direction, and just repeat. I like using drybone's tank looking thingy.
