I recall he saying it MAY allow region free.

Regardless, it's still progress. The possibility of allowing region free or not is still something to hope for.

It's absolutely disgusting when I see a bunch of pirates insult other people's dedicated work they contributed to the scene. And then we wonder why developers are not releasing their work? If you have no interest towards his work, there is no reason to even view the page or comment.

Someone did make a thread about it, it got locked and deleted within about ten minutes. Anyway one week isn't so bad for the people that have been dying to use it. I'm not too fussed either way personally

The current 'scene' only exists thanks to Gateway.

Which in turns means that the "scene" would greatly benefit from something like Smealum's exploit instead of having to rely on Team GW's discoveries every time - too bad everyone is too busy hating on him

What you said makes sense, but not everyone wants to buy a flashcart to pirate/backup games. Some people just want homebrew on their 3DS, which renders his work useful for certain people.

Agreed. I think a lot of people would be jazzed just to get snes or gba emus on their 3ds. I actually would like to make a universal remote program using the ir as a control mech, maybe I can improve on wiiTV, lol

I think everyone is underestimating what his exploit can do. He did mention multiple times that his exploit can allow region free on the 3DS which Gateway may not be able to implement such feature on their new upcoming update.

There is absolutely no need for speculating at this moment, but Smea's exploit might help the scene progress even further. It's just the pirates here don't realise it, because they're already happy with what they have, which is the ability to play their roms.

I don't think so. As far as I remember SSSpawn doesn't have the rights needed to that. I can be wrong tho, we'll see.
