Try using big blue menu. That's how it worked for me. FBI just crashes/gives errors when installing the custom update.

FBI worked just fine for me, don't know why you had issues with it.

Latest version will work, and you need to run...

cachegen.py saltysd\smash\

Through a command prompt at the root of the sd card, shift + right click empty space of the root and open a command prompt that way then paste it in...

The second edit, you could've just checked on the first page of this xD
But the crashes could also be a model which crashes the game, gotta mess with it until it works.

I mean my current gsme files dont crash, but when i installed the .py thingy it crashed onboot.

We can't upload those, but yet we are allowed to upload the .bch files for characters? That doesn't make much sense.

I managed to swap positions of characters on the css by swapping id's like Mario with Luigi etc but if i add the code for one of the three mii types over someone else's code like Mario then that character (Mario) will appear at the bottom of the css next to sonic and the mii slot. I don't know how to add more slots yet even though toadstool has done it in that video. If I could look at his file I could figure out what he did.

anybody has any pointers on how to rebuild a customized update for smash just in case i dont want to use salty.cia? google hasnt been favorable this time and asia's tutorials dont really cover smash,

I wanted to know how to build customised game update cias for the longest. I would make modpacks and install them globally. But I dont know how to decompile a nintendo CIA or the file structure for the updates

sorry i wasn't reading correctly.. I need the cachegen.py
i use it on the smash folder and it crashes the game on boot.
my edited files are completely fine and functional, so idk why it wont work for me?
Has anyone elses game crashed for no reason??

Wait, are you opening the command prompt in the smash folder or the root of the sd card?
