Hacking Slim 4.55 Jailbreak with no downgrade?

Alright, I own a slim PS3 on 4.55 OFW. Is there a way for me to install a CFW (I understand Rogero is probably the best) without any other equipment? Is it safe (no bricks)? (I mostly want it to be able to play all of my games with Vita remote play)

Not without hardware! You would need to downgrade to 3.55.

That's weird, I saw at least 2 separate YouTube videos of installing Rogero on 4.55.

They didn't install it on a 4.55 console without hardware. You probably saw them install 4.55 CFW on top of another CFW or from 3.55. It's not possible to hack a 4.55 PS3 without hardware.

You need to buy a downgrader. I believe it's called E3 flasher. Don't know a lot about it as I have never had to use it. I just know that it is needed to be able to downgrade. Sorry I cant be more help there.

probably not 3.55 is pretty old and nothing past that has been released

Many modchip places will have the flashing tool and can perform the downgrade to 3.55 for you for a price.

These are your two options.

ODE

Dual-Boot CFW\OFW

Both are equally difficult to install I would recommend ODE as it might be a bit safer, but it really comes down to preference.

You are in the USA.. it is easy for you to go to the Pawn shop. They have an old ps3 slim or phat that might have 3.41 or 3.55. Test it at the pawn shop before you buy it. I did few years ago.

Probably less than CFW. Though the risk is always there. Sony has started cracking down on ODE's in the last couple firmware revisions.
