Hacking Slight Saving Lag

The write speed of the card is more effected by the quality of the cards controller and has very little to do with the class.

So do you have a recommended brand? I would like to know what to buy. I want at least a 4GB, one that will load the games without hiccups, but above all: one that won't take 8-10 seconds to write/save a game. Brand name/Class (even though you say it's not important to the writing speed)
If a was in the UK I would always buy:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Micro-Spee...4853&sr=8-2

If I am in the US I would probably go for one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/DATA-microSDHC-Memor...K/ref=pd_cp_e_1
http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-Class-micr...8/ref=pd_cp_e_3

Edit: I have only used the Samsung card and it has been great. I'm recommending the US cards based on research only not personal experience.

Honestly, I'd recommend A-Data. The cards tend to be cheap, and I've never had one die on me or have any kinds of problems (I have like 3 or 4 of them), so they must be built well enough too. One place you can find 'em is on Newegg.com.

*edit*
I *think* this is the one I'm using right now. Keep in mind that one doesn't come with anything to convert it to a full size SD card if you choose that particular package, should you need one of those for some reason (say, you don't have one and only have an SD card reader that accepts full size cards).

Yeah, I've had my eye circled on the A-Data since you mentioned it earlier. I haven't yet been able to try my local comp/office stores to see if they carry the brand. I don't know if I want an 8GB. I've been throwing too much money around lately. I did see a 4GB A-Data MicroSD that's a Class 6. But then there's the shipping... I feel like a cheap-ass now, but I honestly will not be able to tolerate these insane write/save times. Even in Lameboy it takes 6 seconds to make a save state (when my old 2GB was instantaneous).

I think a 4GB would suit me well. I don't use my DS for music/movies/photos. Just games: old, new, and emulated.

Yeah, that's why I got an 8 GB one mostly...because I knew I'd probably want to use DSTwo's video feature whenever it was released. It's also nice to have more room for podcasts/music.

Yeah, I bet it's the card you're using. When playing DX IX for me it always finishes saving well before the music is over.

9th Sage, could you help me out by telling me what brand/size microSD card you're rocking? I just tried saving a state in Lameboy, and it took 6 seconds. I know now that I will not be able to handle these times in the future. If I had a card (@ 4GB or higher) that saves as fast as my old 2GB, I can be happy again.
It's an Adata 8 GB Class 6 SDHC card.
I've got the exact same card as you, the only game I've noticed lag on is Kirby Super Star Ultra, during all of the cinematics and when you get an AI partner. However, I was able to remedy this by running my ROM in clean mode.

Yeah, I noticed that on the Supercard, but haven't looked it up yet: What is the difference between the "Clean" and "Patch" options in the game select menu? Does the clean leave the rom alone and "patch" patches the game? Or is it backwards? Does the "clean" clean the rom of AP and the "Patch" means "use this mode if the rom is already patched?"

I tried running DQIX in Clean mode and it took twice as long to save/load.

I know that you can't access the real time menu in clean mode, I think patch mode let's the DSTWO use it's features and the clean mode is running it as if it were a real cart

Yeah, as I understand it clean mode uses a bare minimum of patches to get the game running.

I have lags with Inazuma Eleven 2 game, when i go in a new area or when i save etc...
Fortunately, the matches have no slowing lags

Actually it uses no patches whatsoever, it just gets the game running and that's it.
Right, that's what I mean. It just does whatever it needs to do to get the game to start and that's all.

Great news! The 4GB A-Data Class 6 MicroSD came in the mail today (thanks to newegg.com).
First thing I tried was Dragon Quest IX and saved. To my delight, it finished the save well before the music finished.

Then I tried Lameboy. Saves a state 'almost' instantly!

I'm now content. Thanks guys for the recommendations.
