Hi all, so I bought finnaly my first 3DS and I also bought 2 games with it, now as you may know games are expensive and I cant buy them all, I will always support my favorite games, with this being said, does anyone know if this Sky 3ds is legit?
And if it has limitations on which games it can play.

thanks in advance

I own both the blue button sky3ds as well as the orange 2 button model... they work just fine! (blue button or older single orange button can't play latest roms, however sky3ds+ dual button can), playing online requires the use of a private header (dumped from any other game cartridge)... Since going the CFW route, I haven't used the sky3ds for anything other than cubicninja (required as a homebrew entrypoint).

Thanks for the answer but I didnt understand half of what you said XD..I mean I bought the acekard2i for Nintendo ds Lite when it came out, is that sky 3ds much more harder to use? you are talking about homebrews and stuff like that I have no idea what that is :D and the dual button or blue and orange dont get it aswell.

there are older versions of the sky3ds cartridge... first being single orange button (had a 10 game limit)... then a blue button one (no game limit, can put as many roms on microsd as you want) then theres the newest sky3ds+ which has a dual orange buttons, this is the one you want as it will run all 3ds roms (more recent games added security checks that the original sky3ds couldnt deal with) as far as "headers" every game cartridge has a unique ID... so if you are playing an online game w/ the sky3ds and no private header , you will get banned. Obtaining a private header file involves being able to dump a 3ds cartridge you own (doesnt matter which one, any offline game) And using that game carts ID with all the online enabled games you want to play with the sky3ds. Think of it as game serials with pc games... only on the nintendo 3ds you can use any other games serial to play online (not game specific like pc), as long as no duplicates exist. All of this info is available on here if you look around By going the custom firmware route instead, you bypass all this header stuff, as you can install games right to the home menu, therefore using your systems unique ID instead of the individual game cartridge!

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

the sky3ds+ is as simple as downloading 3ds rom files and putting them on a microsd card.. if that's what your after. It just gets more complex when you want to play online enabled games,

So If I buy it I can play the games easily just by downloading them and putting them into the micro sd? it's that easy?
It only gets harder if I want to play them online?
If thats the case That looks good, because I dont plan playing the games online, the ones i play online(pokemon) I will just buy the game instead

and if I buy this sky3ds+ and i switch between my original pokemon cartridge and this, i can do it freely or i will have to do something because it will disable my internet connection?

What is the price for the sky3ds+?

100 dollars. (If you want to run roms for free without the header junk then you can downgrade and setup cfw. It is a hard to setup at first but once it is done it will be simple.)

alright thanks for the answers, is there any site that ships it to europe? the main site has different resellers but i dont know which of them can be trusted

Best noob guide imo. It helped me a lot getting into this stuff two weeks ago. Now I have a flawlessly running N3DS with AuReiNAND CFW.
If you feel ready to get going, follow Plailect Guide on GitHub step by step. Maybe the downgrading part is a bit tricky because every device is different. So read through the gbatemp forums, read more than just one guide... Read, read read ;)

The only thing the guide doesn't have updated.. the fact that even v10.7 can now be downgraded from (every system in existence currently) Now is probably the best time to attempt, since if you brick, you can use the built in recovery menu to download the latest update (10.7 currently) and try all over again!

And if it bricks can i recover it (or is a cfw prior to the brick needed?)

Yes even the latest nintendo update can be downgraded from.. currently v10.7 !

That's why I said to read read read. I also didn't recommend the guide to downgrade, it was just a recommendation for absolute beginners to read. It explains a lot of shortcuts and basic thinks how to get to success. He asked what is a "CFW" - every guide takes that as basic knowledge and never explains it. "Choose your entry point of choice" is also a common phrase... Nowhere explained what it means.
Also you just said you can downgrade from every firmware even 10.7. This sounds like it's as easy as downgrading from 10.5 and lower. But it's not - you have at least to mention he has to spend some money if he doesn't own CubicNinjas or a flashcard (which he obviously doesn't).

so basically >10.5 And were back to having to buy the sky3ds as an entrypoint, since you may as well buy one instead of wasting cash on an overpriced cubic ninja game cart..$80-$150 on ebay etc... sky3ds can be had for $100 tops, still not a bad deal since you can use sky3ds to load cubic ninja rom, then cfw your system, and the sky3ds is still useful (resell it to a friend or keep it, since you've spent all of the price of 2 legit games)
