Is it considered safe to install the game updates from Online when you launch a game from a Sky3DS cart and it says "There is an update for this software" under the games icon on the top screen?

Can I do it or do I risk a ban?

Yes you can update like normal the only thing that can cause a risk of ban is using a public or shared haeder.

I am using a public header from the provided template.txt file, but I never use the online services, such as Pokemon GTS, etc. I just meant if it's safe to download the software updates. :)

Yes if you want to play online buy a cheap new game and use its header for all your games by injecting it using sky army knife

They don't even know what header you're using as you download updates, in fact you don't even need the game to do so

Update patches for games from the eShop can be installed as long as you have access to the eShop. Your header doesn't matter. It's when you try to go online IN-GAME where private header matters.

That's the great thing about Sky3DS. You can update system firmware and continue on with life and never have to worry.

Here's something else you might like:

You can play OVER-NETWORK games without headers.
Streetpass without headers.
IR transfer without headers.
And your friends can use your Sky3DS as well... so sharing is okay.

When you -DO- put a private header into template, then that game can play online on any 3DS system. Just don't play the Sky3DS and the original game at the same time because they have the same header and Nintendo doesn't like that.

And it doesn't have to be the same game. It can be any game. And you only need one header. Or so I've been told. So pick a game you own, steal the private header, and then use it on all your Sky3DS games.

Good luck! Have fun!

@SylverReZ find me ONE community that is free of drama and politics. even video games forums (like this one) have politics section. and for some reason gamers still take consoles/brands wars seriously. even as a kid i never took the console wars bait despite being a nintendo kid.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
one of the reasons i deleted all my social media accounts, reddit account (although i was rarely using it) etc was to get away from this shit.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Vetusomaru, Sadly, not all communities like to play nice. Forums are pretty much dying despite Discord amongst other social media being available.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
i only kept my twitter accounts and only because many of the artists i like share their art only/mostly at twitter.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
lots of discord groups (even the big ones) are also dead for some reason.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Twitter is way too shittier.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
that's why i added some firefox addons to block shit like twitter trends.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Discord, on the other hand, moderation tends to not be very nice in video game communities from what I had experienced.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
nah, discord is also a shithole. discord is good only if you have your own community with your own rules. or if you re lucky to find some groups that arent shitholes.

as about forums, when i recently revisited some old forums i used to be regular and seeing how immature most members still are i was like "Yeap. Nothing of value has been lost.". Unfortunately it's the good, comfy forums that ended up dead or shut down, especially because of internet centralization.
