I posted this in the thread about the CycloDS forums being down, but I thought I'd create a separate topic so it doesn't get buried.

After days of trying to access the CycloDS forums to get info on skinning, I gave up and found the info elsewhere. I found the evo-skinning-info.zip file on an Italian forum. You have to register to get to it, so I thought I'd host the file myself for those who don't speak Italian or don't want to register.

So if you're looking for detailed info on how create skins for the CycloDS Evolution, click here.

I just registered to share this. Hope someone finds it helpful.

Thanks for this info and all the hard work! The "click here" link doesn't work for me though.... ??

Just to clarify . . . I didn't write the tutorial or anything (and I didn't see a credit in the tutorial file or I'd happily name names). But it is a really good one, though. I'm looking forward to making some nice skins.

And another aside, this cart is awesome. So easy to use. I highly recommend it. I'm a newbie when it comes to flash carts and homebrew and such, and this is so simple and it works flawlessly.

And the link should open a dialog that prompts you to save the zip file to your computer. Here's the actual address: http://www.elemcee.com/nds/evo-skinning-info.zip.

Let me know if you're still having problems.

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

Not to mention this would be a massive pain to pirate

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)
