I followed the updated 3ds.guide for upgrading A9LH to Boot9strap with no issues. Everything went smoothly and Boot9strap is now installed! Thank you to all that made this happen! :grog:

One question though. My Galaxy N3DSXL is technically still covered under the 1 year warranty. Should anything happen to it and I need to send it in, what would I do? Would sending the unit in without the SD card suffice? What about the boot.firm that was copied to CTRNAND? Would Nintendo reject the repair, or would they notice?

Sighax is the exploit in Nintendo's Boot9 signature parser that allows us to fakesign FIRMs.

Boot9strap is a project by SciresM that utilizes sighax and another exploit (an NDMA overwite) to gain code execution as Boot9. This means that boot9strap, unlike standard sighax, can do stuff like dump the OTP, Boot11, and Boot9.

So is anybody going to be using derrek's sighax or everybody going with the bootstrap version ?

Advantages I can see with the bootstrap version is... supported by community, dump arm 9 / arm 11, supported by the guide

Advantages with derrek's version... ??

Not being argumentative btw, just looking for clarification

bootstrap9 is the superior version, just use that...

Edit: @Apache Thunder, thank you for pointing out my total brain-fart. I can't believe that I thought read-only-memory could be written to XD

bootstrap9 is the superior version, but it doesn't install the firmware itself to the BootROM; meanwhile, derrek's does. At least, that is my understanding...

lol wut? Bootrom is read only and pretty much baked into the SoC at manufacture. You ain't gonna be installing anything into bootrom. Not without bitflipping with a high powered particle radiation emitter. :P
